Description
Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) has the fastest, lowest cost path to commercial fusion energy.CFS collaborates with MIT to leverage decades of research combined with groundbreaking new high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet technology. HTS magnets will enable compact fusion power plants that can be constructed faster and at lower cost. To implement this plan, we are looking to add dedicated people to the team who treat people well, improve our work by adding multifaceted perspectives and new ways of solving problems, have achieved outstanding results through a range of pursuits, and have skills and experience related to this role.
Commonwealth Fusion HR LLC seeks a full time Head of Quality at our offices located at 117 Hospital Road, Devens, MA 01434.
Design, build, and lead the quality strategy and function across our organization, and develop our Quality Management System and quality Department.
Duties include:
Hire, manage, and mentor a team of quality engineers and inspectors;
Develop and implement the company's Quality Management System;
Work collaboratively with systems engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to establish quality processes and procedures that span across the whole organization;
Oversee and own all Quality Assurance non-destructive testing, incoming inspection, Material Review Board (MRB), internal process controls, and calibration, and maintain all required documentation for compliance;
Implement quality tools including Six Sigma, Root Cause and Corrective Actions, FMEA (failure mode and effects analysis), and SPC (statistical process control) to set up a reliable, low defect manufacturing line;
Provide training to the organization to ensure mission reliability and compliance to technical and regulatory requirements; and
Serve as the primary contact person for external regulatory bodies and accreditation organizations for audits, surveys, and other inquiries, including overseeing documentation, reporting, and closure of compliance issues.
Position Requirements:
Master's degree (or foreign degree equiv.) in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related engineering field, plus five years of experience in a quality engineering role.
In the alternative, Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equiv.) in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related engineering field, plus seven years of experience in a quality engineering role.
Experience, which may be gained concurrently, must include each of the following:5 years of experience working in a complex manufacturing company with a quality assurance organization certified to ISO9001, AS9100C, TS16949, or similar program;
5 years of experience in people management and leadership roles including team building and employee development;
5 years of experience with leading ISO9001 implementation, auditing and 3 rd party certification;
5 years of experience working with emerging technology in an R&D into production environment;
5 years of experience with the fabrication and quality inspection of highly-toleranced parts and complex integrated systems including large metallic structures, electrical or magnetic subsystems, machining, and welding;
Position requires travel domestically on an as needed basis to Commonwealth Fusion facilities (20%).

Salary:
$180,000/year.
