    The Clinical Nurse (NCR02) Urology position involves administrative tasks, clinical coordination, and direct patient care.
    The Clinical Nurse (NCR02) will help coordinate clinical care and patient education activities at BIDMC Urology to ensure high-quality patient care. As a member of the Urology clinical team, the CN will collaborate with physicians, nursing, and administrative staff. Effective communication, problem-solving, and strong clinical judgment are essential. The CN will also assist in quality and safety improvement processes as needed.
    You will actively participate in direct nursing care as a key member of the Urology clinical team in the ambulatory setting.
    The ideal candidate should have experience in adult ambulatory practice with multiple providers and clinical disciplines, proficiency with EMR, and be a collaborative team player.
    The CN should be a highly motivated, ambitious nurse with excellent communication skills who will closely work with the team to provide competent, compassionate, and personalized nursing care to all patients.

    Department Specific Job Responsibilities- Education/Teaching:

    • Vaginal dilation teaching post Vaginoplasty
    • Penile implant inflation/deflation teaching
    • AUS teaching
    • Bladder retraining coaching/education
    • Foley catheter placement for acute retention teaching resource for Foley catheter care
    • Patient education pre/post procedure teaching/discharge instructions
    • SPT teaching
    • UDS
    • Fusion Biopsy
    • Transperineal Biopsy
    • Phone/Lab/Patient message triage
    • Procedures: Clinical Nurse responsible for several office-based surgical procedures and testing including performing voiding trial studies, assisting physicians with Cystoscopy procedures, Prostate biopsy, Vasectomy, Circumcision, Urodynamic testing, and assisting Physician with prostate biopsy
    • Nursing Care: Provides direct care to patients and makes nursing judgments, coordinates patient care, and leads assistive personnel to ensure safe, effective, and timely patient-centered care.

    Job Description:

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Provides direct patient care and makes necessary nursing judgments. Responsible for assessing health care needs, formulating care plans, implementation, and evaluation. Demonstrates decision-making ability by integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience in patient care.
    • Coordinates patient care, directs assistive personnel to provide safe, effective, equitable, and timely patient-centered care. Demonstrates awareness of healthcare environmental factors and resource identification.
    • Works collaboratively with other health professionals, develops trusting relationships with patients, acts as a patient advocate, maintains annual education requirements, and participates in professional development and quality improvement activities.
    • Demonstrates commitment to patients, staff, and the medical center, taking responsibility for nursing practice and patient safety.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Graduate from accredited Nursing Program
    • Registered Nurse license
    • American Heart Association - Basic Life Support Certification
    • 1-3 years of related work experience
    • Basic computer familiarity

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in a teaching hospital and specialized area expertise

    Customer Service: Ability to provide high-level customer service in a professional and respectful manner, remaining calm in stressful situations.

    Age based Competencies: Competent to provide patient care across various age groups including Neonatal, Young adult, Middle Age, and Elderly.

    Physical Nature of the Job: Medium work involving physical exertion and standing/moving for the majority of the shift.
