    Description


    Job Description We are seeking an experienced controller to lead our experienced accounting team and provide financial expertise and recommendations for continued company success and stability.

    Reporting to the CEO, the Corporate Controller will have responsibility for the overall direction, supervision, and control of accounting and financial operations for a well-respected firm and team of engineering and design professionals.

    Responsibilities

    Accounting and Financial Services Management
    Supervise and manage the accounting department for the Company.
    Responsible for financial reporting to management and maintaining accounting records in accordance with GAAP, legal, and contractual requirements.

    Manage services provided by the outside tax accounting firm, 401K advisory and administration firms, insurance firms, attorneys, investment managers, and other business consultants.

    Responsible for project-specific and firm-wide financial management information systems, and for the development and implementation of enhanced reporting and control systems for continually improving project control, efficiency, and management.

    Strategic Planning and Growth Responsibilities

    Provide financial consultation and metrics to support the Company's strategic and marketing plans, assist in the evaluation of new business opportunities and markets, and develop strategies to achieve increased business value.

    Business Performance Responsibilities

    Monitor and report company performance, translating the operational metrics into opportunities to improve value to clients and enhance performance, sustainability, and resilience.

    Working with senior management, develop company and department financial plans and budgets, and support execution and tracking.

    Manage financial services and functions, support legal and contractual functions, and monitor overall Company operations in achieving Company business plan.

    Provide financial and business analysis to develop and enhance compensation level for services provided by Company.

    Stay abreast of and advise on all business initiatives relative to impacts on liability and risk, profitability, personnel and financial commitments.

    Employee Policy and Practices Responsibilities
    Administer financial and legal aspects of Company's employee benefit plans, maximizing effectiveness, controlling costs, and maintaining market competitiveness.
    Personnel Compensation and Development Responsibilities
    Provide reference information, forecasts, and recommendations on current and potential future compensation levels and trends.

    Working with managers, assist in tracking and measuring the development of individuals, teams, and overall company talent and capabilities in accordance with objectives and capabilities metrics.

    The position has a flexible 9/80 work schedule with a hybrid work location, supporting SPEC's Fountain Valley office


    Qualifications Required Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field of study
    10+ years of relevant work experience (Accounting, Finance, engineering services)
    Excellent leadership and team management abilities
    Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial regulations
    Exceptional accounting, job cost, and financial analysis and reporting capabilities

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Proven experience as a Controller (5+ years) or in a similar financial leadership role, preferably in an engineering services or professional services related industry
    CPA and/or MBA or other advanced business or finance degree
    Outstanding communication and presentation skills
    Proven ability to visualize and create innovative solutions and opportunities for adding value to the company, personnel, and clients
    Proven ability to plan, estimate, and execute projects according to the plan
    Technologically adept with ERP systems, databases, dashboards, other

    Salary Range:
