    Job Description

    Savannah River National Laboratory is seeking Minority Serving Institutions Partnership Program (MSIPP) Postdoctoral Research Associates to support the Environmental Management mission at the lab. Qualified individuals must hold a degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics from a minority serving institution.

    MSIPP Postdoctoral Research positions support the Department of Energy Office of Environmental Management mission to reduce risk associated with radioactive wastes, spent nuclear fuel (SNF), excess plutonium and uranium, and/or contaminated soil and groundwater. Positions focused on leading, advancing, developing, and applying science, technology, engineering, information technology, and research and development, to anticipate, innovate, and deliver solutions to Laboratory missions. These positions may involve discovery, design, and development of innovative solutions which advance the state of the art. Successful candidates will have:
    • Critical thinking skills, data analysis skills and a demonstrated ability to integrate these skills into effective experimental design, execution and reporting.
    • Capability to scope technical tasks and develop creative solutions.
    • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal & written) technical results.
    • Ability to demonstrate their scientific productivity through peer-reviewed publication.
    • Ability to demonstrate their capacity for advance research approaches to solve complex problems.
    • Willingness to work on a team dedicated to scientific discovery and its application to some of the most challenging problems facing the nation.
    • Ability to work safely and comply with all policies and standards, with particular attention to quality.
    Field of Study/Capabilities include but not limited to chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science/engineering, physics and related science or engineering disciplines.

    Positions are focused on leading, advancing, developing, and applying science, technology, engineering, information technology, and research and development to anticipate innovate and deliver solutions to Laboratory programs.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • PhD + 0-3 yrs
    • Individuals must have completed all requirements for their PhD by the start of employment.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate level government security clearance.
    • Hold a degree from a minority serving institution.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience working with a diverse team of researchers.
    • Uses basic logic and common sense to arrive at solutions.
    • Develops partnerships with internal team members.
    • Able to communicate effectively in a variety of platforms.
