    Description
    Injection Molding Tooling Engineer

    We are looking for a Process Engineer to join our clients growing team. They are a profitable, multi-location Medical Molder with plans to grow substantially in the next 2 years.


    In this role, you will be leading the development, design, launch, and validation or injection molds for the medical devices.

    Job Description


    Work with internal operations teams and external customers and to understand their needs relative to current tooling and new projects.

    Direct tool shop and outside vendors ensuring tool timing is met and PMs, repairs, and refurbishments are completed to satisfaction


    Reviews and critiques submitted mold vendor design proposals and assures functional mold performance and adherence to established mold construction standards.

    Maintains project budgets and timing schedules and reports to management as needed.


    Coordinates tooling trials, directs inspection layouts and tool modifications as required to achieve molded production part qualification and manufacturing approval of new tools as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree or 10 years of relevant experience.

    5 years of Injection Molding Tooling design, launch, and project management.

    Strong knowledge of Injection Mold construction, including tool steel, cavitation, pressure transducers, gates, runners, polishing, repair, rebuild, etc...

    Experience with small parts, intricate molds with the presence of many moving parts, including but not exclusive to cores, slides, and valve gates

    The Tooling Engineer will have demonstrated project management skills for tool procurement and product introduction and experience sourcing tooling.

    Experience managing outside tool shops to control costs and deliver excellence.

    Travel up to 15% to support mold trials, customer issues, etc.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

    Knowledge to complete and diagnose mold filling simulation

    Journeyman Tool Maker or Journeyman Moldmaker.

    Experienced in ISO 13485 Medical Molding standards
