    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a talented Director of Materials to join our team. The Director of Materials is responsible for the following:

    Responsibilities:

    • Supervise, evaluate and coach 4 Regional buying teams across North America.
    • Oversee the procurement of materials according to customer specifications per print.
    • Provide leadership and establish inventory parameters to balance working capital and continuity of supply in a vendor managed service environment.
    • Develop and implement inventory policies to assure optimum inventory levels and on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements, while minimizing carrying costs and transportation charges.
    • Develop E-procurement strategies including, but not limited to, Auto p.o. expansion, stocking program initiatives and supplier p.o. maintenance portal
    • Oversee the purchasing and inventory contracting for externally procured part base that includes a global supply base with extended lead times.
    • Analyze data, perform root-cause analysis and implement viable, permanent solutions to supply related issues. Works with both internal and external customers to develop solutions which meet company-wide needs and objectives.
    • Establish and maintain purchasing practices, contracts, and policies to insure honest, fair, and ethical relationships with our vendors. Keep informed on legal matters that affect purchasing policies.
    • Keep abreast of markets and materials pricing trends that affect Company products.
    • Provide direction for evaluating, implementing and maintaining systems to optimize the procurement and maintenance of all product materials.

    Must Haves:

    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain, Operations or similar.
    • Minimum 5 years' experience in an Managing a buying team in supply chain or operations. Experience in a distribution environment a plus.
    • Thorough understanding of Materials Management operational concepts: scheduling, procurement, and inventory control.
    • Certification such as CPIM or CSCP strongly preferred.
    • Familiarity with ISO9000 and continuous improvement initiatives such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and JIT desirable.
    • Proficient in MS Office with strong analytical skills to assess and action
    • Progressive procurement experience with a track record of exceeding goals.
    • Strong interpersonal skills including teamwork.
    • Strong negotiating skills with knowledge of tactical and strategic purchasing.
    • Fastener knowledge is beneficial to the role.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Strong work ethic and attitude that will inspire others.
    • 15% travel.
