    Description


    Directs research financial operations for assigned enterprise institutes/divisions to ensure alignment with the mission, values, and objectives of the organization.

    Leads a team responsible for all aspects of research finance and accounting, including but not limited to project budgeting, billing, collection and ensuring compliance with Federal regulations, sponsor/grantor requirements, and institutional policies and procedures.

    Assigned as a leader to enterprise institutes, sub-markets and/or corporate finance teams to meet organizational and corporate financial objectives that benefit the organization.


    Responsibilities:
    Partners with Finance division, key executive, operational, Institute and market leaders.
    Leads research financial operations for enterprise Institutes and/or sub-markets including key initiatives and oversight functions.

    Oversight of Leaders responsible for key research finance initiatives (i.e., Analyst Development/Recruitment, Financial Reporting, Cost management, etc.)Reports on financial matters and participates in management and policy decisions.

    Guides, interprets, analyzes, and communicates financial position, forecasts, and models to the assigned to aid in decision-making process.
    Participates and leads in assigned integration efforts for Institutes and/or sub-markets.

    Leads operational areas through approved key enterprise, sub-market and/or corporate initiatives (i.e., Financial Planning, Capital Planning, etc.).Develops complex business plans to support operations.

    Coordinates enterprise/sub-market budgets and ensures that areas operate in compliance with allocated funding and enterprise strategy.

    Develops strategic and complex departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the research, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.

    Plans, organizes, and directs all strategic activities related to staffing, including hiring, orienting, performance management, and employee engagement and continuing education terprets policies regarding allowable, allocable, reasonable, and consistent costing practices.

    Ensures timely and accurate financial reporting and billing of projects to sponsors.

    Demonstrates strategic and very high-level knowledge of applicable statutory, regulatory, and administrative requirements relative to research operations and ensures compliance with the same.

    Improve cash flow by assuring timely billing of grant and contract receivables and timely follow-up with sponsors.
    Other duties as assigned.


    Education:
    Bachelor's degree required. Major in Accounting and/or Finance preferred.
    Masters preferred.

    Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification plexity of Work:Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously along with meeting firm deadlines and appropriate utilization of support staff.

    Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
    Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
    Must possess strong analytical and solution oriented, problem-solving skills. Must have the ability to engage, develop and mentor professional staff. Must be able to operate effectively in a collaborative, shared leadership environment. Prior experience and a well-established professional network are critical. Proven leadership in managing relationships is also critical to success in this position.


    Work Experience:


    A minimum of 10 years of functionally related experience, including at least 5 years of demonstrated management experience in a complex multi-hospital healthcare system.

    Experience to include at least 7 years of relevant experience in accounting, grants administration, and audits.
    Experience to include at least 7 years of developing and negotiating clinical trial budgets, and/or fee for service contracts.
    Experience managing awards via federal, industry, foundations, and other non-profits.
    Must demonstrate ability to function in a matrix management environment.


    Physical Requirements:
    Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
    Ability to travel throughout the hospital system and, in some locations, off-site.
    Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
    This position must be available after hours for support.

    Pay RangeMinimum hourly:
    $57.19Maximum hourly:
    $91.52The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. While the pay range is displayed as an hourly rate, Cleveland Clinic recruiters will clarify whether the compensation is hourly or salary. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set, and education. This is not inclusive of the value of Cleveland Clinic's benefits package, which includes among other benefits, healthcare/dental/vision and retirement.
