    Job DescriptionStatement of Duties

    The Social Services Manager provides clinical oversight of work conducted in the Human Services Division of the Health and Human Services Department. The employee is responsible for daily coordination of services provided by the department including documentation, communication with outside services, and consultation for internal staff. Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties.

    Essential Functions:

    The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various type of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.

    • Set agenda and facilitate weekly Case Management meetings; including incorporating outside agencies when appropriate to ensure continuity of care.
    • Provide clinical consultation and supervision to other team members including serving as the clinical supervisor to those pursuing licensure.
    • Provide direction around documentation including implementation of electronic record system.
    • Assist in streamlining intake and referral process for the Human Services team both internal to the city, and with external organization and clients.
    • Monitor Case assignments for the Human Services team to ensure shared responsibility and provide coverage as needed.
    • Coordinate with other team members to identify ongoing needs in the community based on current referrals and identify ways to address these needs. Examples include:
      • Increase around referrals for individuals experiencing grief and loss. Take steps to implement grief group in the community internally or with appropriate outside agency support.
      • Increase in referrals around parents struggling to navigate mental health services. Organize and host events to provide information on a larger scale and work with community partners.
    • Attend community stakeholder meetings to promote services and build relationships.
    • Hold case load (if needed based on staff capacity) with direct service work for youth and families through individual, family, and groups.
    • Serve as the TRN Coordinator and develop services as the trauma resource network to support individuals impacted in the community by traumatic events.
    • Host trainings through TRN and work with Riverside Community Care to address identified needs in the community.
    • Supervise interns while recruiting and expanding intern program within the Human Services Division and the larger Health and Human Services Department.
    • Utilize "train the trainer" opportunities including mental health first aid, youth mental health first aid, psychological first aid, trauma informed care overview, and other various trainings. Once certified as a trainer provides community wide education and training sessions.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Experience: Master's Degree in Social Work, Independent Licensure, and 5+ years' experience in cultural development; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

    Special Requirements:

    • LICSW Required
    • Valid MA Driver's License
    • CPR/First Aid Certification within three months of hire and continually maintained thereafter

    Knowledge, Abilities and Skill

    Knowledge: Working knowledge of programs and resources for community members, familiarity with health and social issues affecting all populations. Working knowledge of State and Federal programs and services to meet the needs of community members.

    Ability: Ability to interact appropriately and sensitively with those seeking services; ability to interact well with staff, participants, and caregivers; ability to speak effectively and to communicate with individuals and groups; ability to adapt and be flexible in response to quickly to changing situations.

    Skill:Excellent oral and written communication skills; working hardware and software computer skills; skill in working with individuals with mental and/or physical disabilities; compassion for those in need of services, and patience and understanding. Multilingual skills in Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian-Creole, Mandarin, and/or Nepali.

    Work Environment

    The work environment involves everyday discomforts typical of offices, with occasional exposure to outside elements. Noise or physical surroundings may be distracting, but conditions are generally not unpleasant. Employee may be required to work beyond normal business hours in response to attend evening meetings or complete work assignments.

    Physical and Mental Requirements

    Physical Skills

    Few physical demands are required to perform the work. Work effort principally involves sitting to perform work tasks, with intermittent periods of stooping, walking, and standing. May also be some occasional lifting of objects such as office equipment and computer paper (up to 30 lbs).

    Motor Skills

    Duties are largely mental rather than physical, but the job may occasionally require minimal motor skills for activities such as moving objects, operating a telephone, personal computer and/or most other office equipment including word processing, filing and sorting of papers.

    Visual Skills

    Visual demands require constantly reading documents for general understanding and analytical purposes.
