What is DeZIM?


The German Center for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM) is a non-university research institute established in 2017 in the field of migration and integration.

As a research institution with tasks similar to those of a government agency, it is responsible for research and development in the areas of family, gender equality, children and youth, seniors, and civic engagement policies.


What does the position entail?


You will work at DeZIM in the Integration department and support projects in the field of qualitative research, with a focus on family, aging, and gender.


We are particularly looking for support in:

  • Collecting, coding, and analyzing qualitative data, primarily narrative interviews
  • Researching and critically evaluating literature, methods, and theories
  • Writing scientific publications and reports
  • Other scientific and organizational tasks within the project team

What skills are we looking for?

  • Students of social sciences, sociology, education, social anthropology, psychology, or a related discipline
  • First experience in academic work
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent knowledge of qualitative data collection and analysis methods. Knowledge and experience in coding interviews is an advantage.
  • Interest in the following topics: family, aging, intergenerational relationships, welfare state institutions, structural discrimination, and racism
  • Good language skills in German and English (additional language skills are desirable)
