    New York Tech's New York City campus seeks an Assistant Director for International Admissions. This role is considered a hybrid/remote position that offers the flexibility of working remotely and in on campus, in line with NY Tech policy.



    Responsibilities



      As a Designated School Official (DSO), the assistant director will assist with SEVIS registration and reporting within strict DHS deadlines. He/she advises students on complex immigration regulations including reinstatements, employment authorization, and change of status, etc..
    1. Works with international students on visa and employment matters; OPT, CPT, etc...
    2. Provides a welcoming atmosphere for incoming international students during SEVIS check In and assists in conducting F-1 orientation sessions.
    3. Counsels enrolled students on matters related to university life and the U.S. study experience, including personal matters, transportation, finances, employment, health insurance, adjustment to campus, and maintenance of student status.
    4. Maintains appropriate and accurate electronic records of all international student documents.
    5. Participates in the implementation and delivery of various programming activities including employment workshops; and joint programming with other departments as needed.
    6. Maintains up-to-date knowledge on the laws and regulations governing international students.
    7. Provides support to OIE functions, including corresponding with international students on issues associated with their international student experience and status.
    8. Works in the development of training workshops and info sessions on issues specific to international students.
    9. Must be able to report to NYC and Long Island campuses as needed.
    10. Assist with admissions recruitment activities and application review upon request.
    11. Perform other duties as assigned.



    Qualifications



    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Understanding of U.S. higher education culture, procedures, and practices.
    • Exceptionally strong communication skills (written and oral).
    • Strong analytical/problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to take initiative.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks with demanding timeframes.
    • Ability to provide high quality and efficient customer service to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members who represent a broad range of cultural backgrounds and perspectives.
    • Ability to work independently or as a team member.
    • Knowledge of best practices and trends related to international student populations.
    • Strong computer skills including SEVIS, Slate, PeopleSoft, Microsoft Suite, Adobe Suite, Zoom.
    • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
    • Bachelor's degree required.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • The Assistant Director will be required to work limited weekends, including admissions events (i.e.: Open House and Admitted Student Days) or as requested.
    • Knowledge of J-1 and H1B visa policies is helpful but not required.

    In compliance with local legislation as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, the annual base salary range for this position is listed. New York Tech considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience/expertise, education/training, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity as well as market, organizational considerations and/or applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.
