**Essential Functioning**
Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets
Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations.
Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers.
Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs.
Prepares, issues, and administers Purchase Orders.
Monitors and expedites purchased materials to ensure timely delivery of product to support customer requirements.
Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement.
Analyzes material requirements and/or Kanban levels for purchased parts to achieve optimum material flow.
Establish order parameters to optimize inventory levels to improve flow.
Develops and manages effective relationship with internal departments. i.e. engineering, marketing, customer service, manufacturing, accounting, planning/materials, and quality.
Maintain system order parameters on assigned parts (i.e. lead time, MOQ, Multiples, Contact info. Etc.).
Works with new product development teams as needed.
Trains and mentors Buyer/Planner I
**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**
Generates reports on purchasing activities for upper management.
Provides sales and customer service organizations with price and delivery information.
Review and adjust reorder points, Kanban, safety stock, economic order quantity and order policies to control inventory levels.
Analyze and process Engineering Change Notices (ECN), deviations, and Bill of Materials (BOM) for accuracy and communicates changes to production.
Other responsibilities as needed and assigned.
**Education & Experience**
Must be able to review and relate Engineering Drawings and Specifications.
Excellent organization skills required.
Computer skills: Proficiency in word-processing and spreadsheet applications required (MS Word & Excel preferred).
Excellent oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels in the organization required.
Good time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
