    Summary Objective:


    Provide oversight, development and direction to the Group Fitness program, train, manage, and direct all Group Fitness Instructors, and develop programs that appeal to a wide variety of members.


    Essential Functions:

    • Deliver the Ultimate Fitness Experience to every member, every time
    • Develop a monthly group fitness class schedule that meets a variety of member needs
    • Promote class schedule and encourage members to cross-train and experiment with formats
    • Recruit, audition, hire, evaluate, and manage group fitness staff
    • Maintain and distribute updated group fitness class schedule
    • Monitor industry trends and standards and modify programs accordingly
    • Coordinate and lead department meetings

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Monitor and maintain online schedule through appropriate systems, updating as necessary
    • Analyze class schedule monthly to insure maximum schedule performance
    • Analyze formats and classes offered based on member demands
    • Update front-desk staff on current schedules and instructors
    • Manage and update instructor contact list
    • Ensure proper class coverage through substitutes, teach class when necessary
    • Compile announcements to be made at each class
    • Coordinate and promote events at least once per quarter
    • Insure class attendance is recorded for every class offered on the schedule
    • Review reports to analyze cost per head, capacity and overall usage
    • Submit accurate payroll information to General Manager in a timely fashion (generally six days after pay period ends)
    • Teach group fitness classes while abiding by monthly limits as established by General Manager and Corporate Director of Group Fitness
    • Participate in all meetings and trainings as required
    • Coordinate ongoing training programs and continuing education opportunities for instructors
    • Maintain all certification information for staff and ensure all certifications are up to date
    • Observe and evaluate classes on a regular basis
    • Provide evaluations to each permanent instructor at least once per quarter
    • Report safety issues or injuries to General Manager and competes accident/witness reports as needed
    • Inspect group fitness equipment weekly, keep inventory, and report repair needs to Maintenance Director, General Manager and Corporate Director
    • Manage communication with members regarding requests or changes to classes and schedules
    • Assume other duties as assigned
    • Work early morning, evening, and weekend hours as necessary

    Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

    Required Experience, Education, & Certifications:

    • Nationally recognized group fitness certification from a US Fitness accepted provider or equivalent required
    • Current CPR/AED certification required
    • Experience in fitness and class instruction required
    • Management experience preferred

    • Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
    • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
    • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
    • The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operates machines, such as lathes, drill presses, power saws, and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach; performs mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature, such as carpenter, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.
    • The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
