    The Educational Technology Master's Program in the Learning & Instruction Department in USF's School of Education invites applications for an adjunct faculty position.


    Full Job Description:

    The Educational Technology Master's Program is seeking an adjunct instructor, for the Summer 2024 semester, to teach the course listed below.

    Below is a description of the course that needs staffing:

    607: Learning Designs. To say that we are teaching and learning in an age of change is an understatement. Ready or not, our classrooms are swiftly becoming technology-rich spaces.

    We have the opportunity—and the professional obligation—to consider how we can best leverage the tools at our fingertips to promote meaningful learning.

    This class challenges students to leverage technology to craft innovative curriculum that increases engagement, sparks meaningful collaboration, promotes authentic assessment, and supports differentiated instruction in one-to-one, flipped, blended, and online classes.

    The course fo lows the five-step process of Design Thinking honed by Stanford's d.school and used by many leading businesses.

    We will engage in the first three phases of the Design Thinking process, focusing on empathy work, definition of the problem, and ideation of possible solutions.

    This course is centered around a few essential questions:

    • How might we leverage technology to promote meaningful learning?
    • How might we adapt best practices in curriculum design for different models of learning and instruction, including one-to-one, Flipped, Blended, and Online?
    • How might we refine our own instructional practices to meet the challenges and opportunities created by different models of learning and instruction?

    In exploring these questions you'll learn about the fundamentals of curriculum design, design thinking, and backward design, focusing on the shift that is necessary in planning learning experiences for contemporary classrooms.

    The course is ideal for those in education and in positions of training, who want to revitalize existing curriculum or craft new curriculum and benefit from structured support in that process.

    The core project and supplementary assignments in the class will require you to have a clear instructional audience.

    Schedule

    This course is offered in two sections:

    • 01 which is the synchronous hybrid section (meetings on Saturdays 6/1, 6/8, and 6/15; and asynchronous meetings on 5/25 and 6/22), and
    • 50 which is the asynchronous, fully online section. Please make sure to enroll in the correct section for your needs.
    Minimum Qualifications
    Qualifications include an earned doctorate or Master's degree in Educational Technology or a related field, and relevant expertise.
