Title: Cyber Security Engineer

Location: North Carolina

Compensation: 145 to 155K

Type: Direct

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team. As a Cybersecurity Engineer, you will contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of robust cybersecurity measures to protect our organization's systems and data from potential threats. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify vulnerabilities, conduct risk assessments, and develop and implement security solutions.

Responsibilities:

Conduct regular security assessments and penetration testing to identify vulnerabilities and risks within our systems and networks.
Develop and implement effective measures to protect our systems and data from unauthorized access or potential breaches.
Monitor and analyze system logs and security events to detect, investigate, and respond to any suspicious or anomalous activities.
Manage and maintain security tools and solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.
Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and best practices, and proactively implement appropriate measures to mitigate risks.
Respond to and investigate security incidents, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
Conduct security awareness training programs to educate employees on best practices for information security.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, development, and operations, to ensure the implementation of secure and compliant systems and processes.
Develop and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
Conduct regular audits and reviews of our systems to ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies and security controls.
Participate in the design and implementation of secure software and infrastructure solutions.
Continually assess and improve the effectiveness of our cybersecurity measures and incident response processes.
Collaborate with external vendors, consultants, and auditors to conduct security assessments and audits as needed.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information technology, or a relevant field (or equivalent experience).
7+ years of experience as a systems administrator or engineer working with Linux, Windows and VMware.
3+ years of experience working in a cybersecurity engineer or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, frameworks (such as NIST or ISO 27001), and industry standards.
Experience with penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, and risk management.
Proficiency in implementing and configuring security tools and technologies such as firewalls, antivirus software, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and SIEM solutions.
Strong understanding of networking protocols, architectures, and security concepts.
Experience with Azure cloud security.
Experience with security incident response and forensic investigation is a plus.
Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS).
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and provide practical recommendations.
