Job Opportunity: Agricultural Technician II (Seasonal)
About the Job
The Agricultural Technician II Program (Seasonal) involves conducting advanced laboratory duties independently under the supervision of the Agriculture Program Supervisor I.
- Screen traps for target insect pests like Mediterranean, Mexican, Oriental, and Melon fruit flies.
- Examine insects for fluorescent dye presence using different tools.
- Separate target insects from non-target ones in samples.
- Submit suspect pests for further inspection.
- Maintain sample integrity and cleanliness.
- Clean and upkeep laboratory equipment.
- Organize trapping supplies for field offices.
- Manage technical data accurately.
- Document work hours and submit reports.
- Enter data electronically and maintain equipment.
- Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance procedures.
- Perform routine lab upkeep.
Working Conditions
This role is mainly indoors in a laboratory setting with specific equipment for insect identification.
Driving may be required with a valid CA driver's license and maintenance of a good driving record.
The incumbent needs to work well under pressure, exercise good judgment, and manage resources efficiently to handle various exotic pest situations.
Minimum Requirements
