    Associate Director, Publishing Delivery - Hoboken, United States - Wiley

    Default job background
    Description
    Location: Hoboken / Oxford / London / Weinheim

    At Wiley, we welcome you for who you are, the background you bring, and embrace individuals who get excited about learning whether online or by book. Learning is for everyone, and so is our workplace. Bring your experiences, your perspectives, and your passion. It's in our differences that we empower the way the world learns.

    Publishing Solutions & Performance (PSolP) is the largest team within Research Publishing (RP), comprised of circa 390 colleagues working across seven distinct teams that broadly speaking support the delivery of RP's portfolio of peer-reviewed journals and associated services and products which combined represent approximately $900M in annual revenue. This position works with the Group VP, Publishing Solutions & Performance, and the PSolP leadership team to drive productivity and performance across the PSolP organization.

    The Associate Director has the experience and capacity to deputize for the Group VP, Publishing Solutions & Performance in multiple environments but particularly in leadership settings across the PSolP organization; other examples might be in leading meetings, projects or initiatives. Moreover, they are responsible for driving the effective reporting/information sharing between teams within PSolP and upwards/outwards to the Research Publishing Leadership Team (RPLT)and relevant stakeholders across and outside of RP. Furthermore, they take a leading approach to engagement activities (e.g., Strategy Month, Glint Survey action plan, Q&A sessions, in-person opportunities for wider team engagement activities), as well as driving the collaboration of key cohorts within PSolP, such as the Senior Staff and People Managers.

    This role is a key "connector" between PSolP and elsewhere in RP/R&L, as well as between teams within PSolP. The position brings operational, strategic, programmatic and publishing expertise to the PSolP LT to ensure broad connection and synergy organization wide. The role leverages knowledge of the new organizational design of Research Publishing and the role of the PSolP organization as the delivery team within the RP organization to support the Group VP in driving the solution of complex problems by bringing relevant groups together, evaluating project/initiative effectiveness in the context of prioritization and resource allocation, and in planning and executing PSolP-wide engagement plans.

    The successful candidate has a "can do" attitude - they are the type of colleague who rolls up their sleeves to get things done. They are self-motivated and organized, requiring limited direction in their day-to-day job. They are confident in themselves such that they can advocate for their position even in discussions with colleagues in more senior positions to themselves. They enjoy learning new tools that enable their work, and are comfortable with data.

    How you will make an impact
    • Establishing and driving monthly reporting across PSolP, ensuring compliance with deadlines and Publishing-wide reporting needs, and appropriate sharing up/out;
    • Coordination of weekly/monthly/quarterly management meetings within PSolP, including leadership team, people managers, senior staff, and all-staff cohorts; communication of agendas, follow up actions, large-format meeting moderation, etc.;
    • To drive PSolP efforts around engagement and culture (related to Glint Survey feedback), coordinating appropriately with RP and R&L level activities;
    • Ad hoc business-lead support of key projects;
    • Acts as a trusted, strategic contributor and confidential sounding board in assessing business opportunities, executional strategy, risk and risk mitigation, and team health;
    • Evolve and maintain a central communication strategy within PSolP to keep the team informed of key programs, projects, successes, etc., and liaising with colleagues elsewhere in RP to ensure alignment with broader communication plans/activities
    • Together with or through relevant communications-focused roles, creating and deploying communication plans, along with associated resources (e.g., FAQs, informational decks, emails, invitations, Yammer posts, etc)
    What we look for:
    • Bachelor's degree
    • 5 years of industry experience
    • Knowledge of publishing industry dynamics
    • Knowledge of STMS publishing processes and business models
    • Great business acumen
    • Project Management skills
    • Change Management
    • Judgment & Decision-Making (C-B analysis)
    • Ability to interpret complex datasets, evaluate trends, and draw conclusions/recommendations
    • Confident with MS Suite of products
