Description
**Pre School Bus Driver - $11.70 per hour**
**Job Summary:**
Transports pre-school children and families to pre-school classrooms and/or other programs sponsored events. Assists teaching staff with children and families. Substitutes in classroom in case of staff absences. Prepares, delivers and/or assists with meal preparation. Attends team meetings, in-service training, and monthly departmental meetings. Communicates verbally and in writing in an accurate and professional manner. Performs daily tasks according to the Head Start mission statement and departmental goals.
Head Start Program employees are required to be fully Covid 19 vaccinated by 1/31/2022. **Job Requirements :**
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or the equivalent
**Qualifications :**
Drivers must have a chauffeur's license and a State of Michigan Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with A, B, or C group designation, (P) passenger and (S) safety endorsements, to transport Head Start children and other program participants
Drivers must complete prerequisite training, CDL skills and road test and the Beginning Bus Driver Training Course, and complete a six-hour continuing education course every 2 years to maintain the necessary CDL
Drivers must not have more than 6 active points within a 24-month period on their personal driving record, as determined by the State of Michigan.
The driver shall be familiar with bus evacuations and operation of the fire extinguisher, as specified by state law
Drivers must be able to lift up to 50lbs
Must undergo and satisfactorily pass criminal history search, child abuse and neglect central registry clearance, physical exam, and drug and TB test at the time of hire and periodically thereafter pursuant to federal and state laws, Head Start Performance Standards, and Agency Policy and Procedures.
Must possess the ability to:
+ Keep current on professional licenses and certifications
+ Work on multiple tasks and be able to organize and prioritize tasks efficiently
+ Properly stoop, bend, lift, climb stairs, and expend moderate physical exertion

Maintain professional confidentiality
Attend all required meetings, conferences, trainings, etc.
Assist with parent involvement efforts and activities and encourage family participation in the program
Personal appearance is neat and appropriate
Respect team, program, families and community members
Help build and maintain positive attitudes, trust, and team spirit
**Program Services:**
Follows Daycare Licensing child restraint procedures in order to ensure children and adults are properly positioned and restrained
Conducts pre-trip inspections of assigned vehicle as required by Federal and State law as well as Head Start. Reports in writing any malfunction.
Maintains interior and exterior of the bus in a clean and safe operating condition and conducts appropriate route procedures within state and federal guidelines.
If an emergency or infrequent situation occurs, follows the appropriate procedures
Performs and documents bus evacuations with staff, children, and families monthly
Maintains awareness of potentially unsafe surroundings at all times.
Performs other duties as assigned.
