- Learn and apply labor laws, regulations, and principles of labor relations, including the Railway Labor Act (RLA) and National Labor Relations Act (NLRA).
- Assist the Director of Labor Relations and Director of Human Resources in day-to-day labor relations activities, including contract administration, grievance handling, and employee relations.
- Participate in labor contract negotiations, observing and learning negotiation techniques and strategies.
- Conduct research on labor relations topics, such as industry trends, best practices, and relevant case law.
- Assist in the preparation and review of labor contracts, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Support the investigation and resolution of employee grievances and disciplinary matters, under the guidance of the Director of Labor Relations and Director of Human Resources.
- Collaborate with HR staff and other departments to integrate labor relations considerations into policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to labor relations activities.
- Provide training related to labor relations topics to operations management.
- Undertake special projects and assignments as assigned by the Director of Labor Relations and Director of Human Resources.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong interest in labor relations, with a desire to develop skills and build a career in the field.
- Knowledge of labor laws, regulations, and collective bargaining concepts is a plus, but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Ability to travel 25% of the time.
