    Hematology Advanced Practice Provider

    Cancer Service Line

    RUSH University Medical Center

    RUSH University Medical Center is currently looking for an outpatient Hematology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their Cancer Service Line. This provider will be part of a team of six physicians and seven fellow APPs working on a four-day, ten-hour schedule to offer outpatient coverage. This role involves dedicating 50% of the time to supporting Benign Hematology and the other 50% to performing bone marrow biopsy procedures.

    *Advanced Practice Provider experience is a must. Individuals with a background in Hematology or other cancer-related specialties are preferred.

    The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality, comprehensive care for the patients at RUSH University Medical Center within the designated scope of practice.
    This individual will facilitate collaboration among various disciplines to deliver cost-effective and excellent patient care. They will embody the mission, vision, and values of RUSH and adhere to the institution's policies, procedures, and guidelines, including customer service standards.
    Successful candidates will need to meet all state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards.


    Responsibilities:
    • Completing and documenting accurate patient history and physical examinations.
    • Conducting comprehensive health assessments and developing patient care plans.
    • Ordering and interpreting tests, treatments, and therapies.
    • Prescribing medications and treatment modalities within the delegated scope.
    • Ordering, interpreting, and performing diagnostic tests and procedures.
    • Providing clear and concise information in medical records.
    • Initiating consultations as per RUSH regulations.
    • Making appropriate referrals to other healthcare professionals.
    • Delivering direct patient care in designated areas (hospital or ambulatory setting).

    • Collaborating effectively with supervising physician, department, and healthcare team members.
    • Advocating for patients, families, colleagues, and the profession.
    • Participating in provider activities outlined in the RUSH Medical Staff Bylaws.
    • Integrating evidence-based knowledge in decision-making.
    • Demonstrating competency in essential medical and surgical procedures.
    • Maintaining board certification, licensure, and continuing education requirements.

    • Supporting the organization's strategic plan and direction.
    • Leading the healthcare team to ensure integrated patient care delivery.

    Education:
    • Providing comprehensive patient education to families and significant others.

    • Contributing expertise for community improvement.
    Other Information:


    Required Job Qualifications:
    • Current State of Illinois Physician Assistant Licensure.
    • Current Certification from National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
    • Degree from an ARC-PA (or predecessor) accredited PA Program.
    • Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Licensure.
    • Current Nurse Practitioner Certification from a national certifying organization Graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner educational program.
    • Master's or Doctorate degree in nursing.
    • BLS certification.
    • Demonstrating competency in all areas of APP practice.
    • Skills in medical records preparation and maintenance.
    • Knowledge of emerging trends in healthcare.
    • Strong work ethic, interpersonal, and communication skills.
    • Autonomous and collaborative worker.


    Preferred Job Qualifications:
    • Master's degree.
