Job Description
Responsibilities:
1. Academic Advising. Coordinate the delivery of and provide appropriate and effective academic advising for the college. Work with the Dean and the college's department chairs to establish effective advising policies, procedures, and practices. Serve as the assigned advisor for students with pre-majors, COB student on academic warning and/or probation and students with COB online majors. Conduct student advising in a variety of formats (in-person, phone, email, videoconference, etc.). Analyze Degree Audit Reports (DARs) at appropriate intervals and follow up with appropriate and timely communication. Provide pre-graduation assessments for students as necessary or requested. Coordinate with the Warrior Success Center to develop and implement strategies and resources for effective advising and engagement.
2. College Admissions Coordination. Coordinate procedures and processes for admission to the college. Educate pre-majors, faculty advisors, and other university areas on the college's admission requirements and procedures. Implement and monitor the admission process. Assess pre-majors and advise these students and assess their progress toward reaching admission Work with individual students seeking admission or failing to make progress and provide advice and referrals.
3. Transfer Student Coordination. Assist students in understanding the college admissions, course equivalents and credit transfer processes. Serve as a resource to the Dean, department chairs, and faculty regarding transfer of COB courses. Develop transfer equivalency guides as needed. Continually review and research Minnesota State policy and procedure as well as curricular changes that result in changes in the transfer process.
4. Recruitment and Registration Event Participation. Participate in university recruitment and enrollment activities. Represent COB at events hosted by admissions as well as registration days. Coordinate the college's faculty advising for registration days. Provide presentations, individual advising and group advising for students interested in COB programs.
5. Teach Orientation. Teach two one-credit sections of Orientation 100 - Introduction to Higher Education to COB pre-majors. Through course delivery, introduce new incoming first-year students to services, activities, expectations, and opportunities at the university and provide them with the means to network with other students, faculty, and staff.
6.Data Collection and Assessment. Assess academic success rates. Serve as an ex officio member of the College of Business Student Advisory Board which formulates and approves the college's Five-Year Strategic Plan.
7. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of Winona State University. Including but not limited to professional development.
