    Summary:


    The Marketing and Communication Manager is responsible for planning and promoting the Texas Preparatory School - Austin and after school program (ROOTS Austin).

    Responsibilities include effectively communicating the mission, vision and brand marketing initiatives by innovatively promoting campus programs to stakeholders and the community.

    In this role the Marketing and Communication Manager provides oversight to execution of the marketing and communications plans, creates and produces great messaging and collateral, both digital and print, for branding, communications and outreach initiatives.


    Duties and Responsibilities:



    • Oversee and execute communication and marketing plans for TPS - Austin and after school program (ROOTS Austin)
    • Maintain marketing calendar for communications (email, PR, web and social media) and ensure the timely distribution of communications outlined in the plan
    • Stay up-to-date on local, state and national news related to Youth Development
    • Work collaboratively with campus staff to assist in highlighting the programs.
    • Promote public awareness of TPS - Austin and after school program (ROOTS Austin) advocacy efforts and position in the Austin community through identifying and engaging with advertising outlets
    • Manage all aspects of digital presence using storytelling skills (i.e. website, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok)
    • Manage the campus program product portfolio, including product information, to include both print and digital assets.
    • Write/edit content, and layout for messaging (electronic and print)
    • Take/edit photos, record videos, capture testimonials for promotion on organization platforms
    • Create and maintain website site content and design on a daily/weekly basis (as needed)
    • Maintain contact mailing list, and seek to increase readership/engagement
    • Assist in the achievement of annual program recruitment goals.
    • Track website/social media analytics, and increase engagement - Increase fans, followers, and overall community engagement

    • Hours include some scheduled evenings and weekends.
    Flexible hybrid work schedule: 3 days on campus and 2 days work from home.


    Qualifications:


    • Demonstrated background of experience, or completing a skill or degree program, in the area of marketing, communications, journalism, advertising or public relations.
    • Ability to work a flexible hybrid work schedule to accommodate the programs and events.
    • Must be able to pass a background and fingerprint check.
    • Proficient in the use of technology and systems (appropriate computer software, email, power point, excel).
    • Creative thinker to create products that are effective.
    • Excellent social media skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to use a high proficient camera to take photos for digital assets.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills (candidates selected to interview will be required to complete written performance exercise)
    • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while managing deadlines

    Preferred Qualifications:


    • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in communications and/or marketing, preferably in a nonprofit organization
    • Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills
    • Proven results in implementing marketing and communications strategic plans
    • Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
    • Proven results in managing social media platforms (Hootsuite, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.) and analytics technologies (Sprout Social, Tweetreach, Meltwater, etc.) to engage a diverse audience
    • Proficiency with CMS platforms and basic HTML (WordPress, etc.)
    • Bilingual - Spanish (written and verbal)

    Position Details:

    Classification: Non-Exempt


    Days: Monday - Friday with some scheduled evenings and weekends; flexible hybrid work schedule with 3 days on campus and 2 days work from home.


    Normal Weekday Hours: Hybrid work schedule, up to 20 hours per week


    Compensation: $16 - $20 per hour


    Reports to: Director of Development
