    A Senior Accountant is responsible for performing complex accounting needs for the Finance department.

    A Senior Accountant analyzes various transactions, prepares annual financial statements, maintain the general ledger, perform account reconciliations, assist with audit preparations, and carry out other accounting duties as assigned.


    Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
    Prepares monthly financial statements for the organization
    Maintains and updates chart of accounts
    Prepares reporting packages for departmental leaders and Executive Leadership
    Assists in the annual independent audit
    Responsible for fixed asset accounting and maintaining fixed assets module in the accounting system
    Responsible for investment accounting
    Responsible for Lease accounting
    Responsible for various month-end balance sheet reconciliations
    Responsible for other general monthly accruals
    Performs multiple bank account reconciliations
    Assists in the preparation of the annual Medicare cost report
    Responsible for reconciling monthly donations with donor database
    Backup administrator for Nexonia expense reporting
    Responsible for lean review and departmental process improvement
    Creates and maintains work instructions
    Provides backup coverage for other STA Finance staff duties and responsibilities
    Performs other duties as assigned

    Compliance:

    OSHA CATEGORY DEFINITION:
    Category 3 – The incumbent in this position has no potential for occupational exposure
    The incumbent will have access to confidential material and is required to use discretion with this information and comply with STA Confidentiality policy

    Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, C.P.A preferred, but not required
    Accounting experience required
    Microsoft Dynamics SL experience preferred, but not required
    Current Driver's license required

    Qualifications and Skills:
    Demonstrates working knowledge of Financial Statements and Financial closing process
    Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word
    Ability to think analytically about impacts of operations on financials
    Ability to identify process improvement opportunities
    Excellent oral, written, and documentation skills
    Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and to represent the organization publicly
    Ability to work both independently and as part of a team required
    Ability to cope with high levels of stress and able to handle a heavy workload
    Ability to be flexible in a dynamic work environment
    Ability to meet assigned deadlines

    PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT / WORKING CONDITIONS:


    Normal office environment and is required to use his/her private automobile in order to meet all the duties and responsibilities of this position.
