    Essential Job Functions:
    Teaching


    • Provides high quality instruction in field of expertise, ensuring students meet course outcomes.
    • Plans, evaluates, and revises curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction.
    • Selects and obtains materials and supplies, such as textbooks and laboratory equipment.
    • Prepares course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
    • Prepares materials for laboratory activities and course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
    • Identifies specialized materials for outside reading assignments.
    • Initiates, facilitates, and moderates classroom discussions.
    • Supervises laboratory sessions.
    • Assists students who need extra help with their coursework outside of class.
    • Maintains student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
    • Evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory and clinic work, assignments, and/or papers.
    • Compiles, administers, and grades examinations, or assigns this work to others.
    • Maintains regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.
    • Advises students on academic and vocational curricula and on career issues.
    Acts as advisor to student organizations, ensuring adherence to college and university policies and procedures.

    Clinical Instruction


    • Assesses clinical education needs and patient and client teaching needs using a variety of methods.
    • Demonstrates patient care in clinical units.
    • Reviews papers for publication in journals
    Research & Scholarship


    • Conducts research in a particular field of knowledge and publishes findings in professional journals, books, or electronic media.

    Service & Professional Development


    • Participates in campus and community events, such as giving presentations to the public.
    • Actively identifies opportunities and provides services relating to fields of expertise for the benefit of internal and external communities.

    Director Duties:

    • Oversees the clinical care initiatives of the PG Periodontics program.
    • Provide direct student supervision in the clinic in the management of sedation.
    • Facilitates the clinical experience for students.
    • Serves as liaison between Department Chair, faculty, college administration, and students.
    • Develops and reviews clinic policies and procedures.
    Other Assigned Duties


    • Collaborates with staff and colleagues to address teaching and research issues, and to improve students' learning experiences.
    • Serves on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.
    • Mentors' junior and adjunct faculty members.
    • Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
    • Performs other duties as assigned or required

    • Dental Medicine - Comprehensive knowledge of the information and techniques needed in Dental Medicine. This includes symptoms and treatment planning.

    • English Language - Thorough knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

    Job Requirements:

    • Required Education
    • Required Experience Required Certifications/Licensures: 1. Certificate in Periodontology from a CODA accredited program.
    • Board certified from the American Board of Periodontology.
    • Certification in Administering Intravenous Conscious Sedation.
    • Master's degree or Ph.
    D. degree accompanied by a substantial publication record in the field of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry.

    Required Education:
    Doctoral Degree (DDS/DMD) or foreign equivalent dental degree Major (if required):

    Required Experience:
    Professional doctoral-level teaching experience.

    Continued professional growth and success in full-time university teaching for four (4) years at the rank of Assistant Professor; scholarly contributions to the university, higher education, or one's academic area(s) of specialization that have received peer recognition.


    For Professor rank:
    Continued professional growth and success in full-time university teaching for five (5) years at the rank of Associate Professor; significant scholarly contributions to the university, higher education, or one's academic area(s) of specialization that have that have been recognized as substantial by one's peers


    Preferred Qualifications:
    Active practice in the clinical realm of periodontology and implant dentistry.
