We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Engineering to lead our engineering team in creating cutting-edge vehicle designs and driving innovation across our product lines.

Position Overview:

The Director of Engineering at 27North will play a pivotal role in leading our engineering efforts, ranging from creating CAD drawings for new vehicle lines to developing electrical drawings and overseeing outsourced work.

This position offers a unique opportunity to build and lead a high-performing engineering team, drive product development, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver industry-leading vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the engineering team in designing and developing new vehicle lines, including creating detailed CAD drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specifications.
Collaborate with product management, design, and manufacturing teams to ensure that engineering designs align with customer requirements, quality standards, and production feasibility.
Manage outsourced engineering projects, including vendor selection, contract negotiations, and project oversight to ensure timely and costeffective delivery.
Build and develop a skilled engineering team, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management to foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and feasibility studies to evaluate product concepts, identify technical challenges, and propose solutions.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality.
Collaborate with regulatory and compliance teams to ensure that engineering designs meet industry standards, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to crossfunctional teams, including sales, marketing, and customer support, to support product launches, customer inquiries, and technical support.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
Proven experience in engineering leadership roles, preferably in the automotive or vehicle manufacturing industry.
Strong technical expertise in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD), electrical design tools, and engineering analysis methods.
Experience with vehicle design, development, and testing processes, including prototyping, validation, and certification.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices in vehicle engineering and safety.
Excellent leadership, communication, problemsolving, and project management skills.
Ability to thrive in a fastpaced, dynamic environment and drive results through collaboration and innovation.
Experience in building and managing engineering teams, including hiring, training, and performance management.
