- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process with external auditors, the finance committee and board of directors; assess any changes necessary.
- Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the Executive Director; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep senior leadership team apprised of the organization's financial status.
- Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
- Ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
- Update and implement any necessary business policies and accounting practices.
- Effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to the board of directors, and finance council.
- Oversee month-end closing process, and provide financial statements for quarterly finance committee meeting.
- Maintain ledgers for campaigns, grants and directed funds.
- File all necessary tax-exempt renewals, etc. with appropriate regulatory authority.
- Coordinate, negotiate and manage third party contracts and services including payroll, I/T, phone systems, office equipment, buildings and grounds maintenance, security systems, health benefits, and others.
- Assist hiring managers with employee onboarding and employee orientation.
- Provide daily leadership and direction to accounting team.
- The ideal candidate has experience of final responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data, reporting and audit coordination, and has preferably overseen a human resources function previously.
- Ability to translate financial concepts to – and to effectively collaborate with programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds.
- Good understanding of technology with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; knowledge of accounting and fundraising software. Knowledge of Quickbooks essential.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Committed to the mission and growth of the Institute for Priestly Formation.
- Minimum of a BA; finance or accounting preferred
- At least 10 years of overall professional experience; ideally five years of broad financial and operations management experience
