    Job Description

    Position Title:
    Quality Engineer

    Reports To:
    Sr. Manager, Quality and Navy Programs

    Position Summary:


    Hunt Valve, powered by Fairbanks Morse Defense has manufactured valves for the defense and industrial industries for decades and is a trusted provider of specialized, severe-duty valves.

    Due to the stringent technical and quality requirements in which Hunt Valve's products are used, our facility requires a robust Quality Control Department.

    At Hunt Valve, we're seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to build upon this reputation with an unwavering commitment to continuous improvement.


    The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives to drive Non-Conformance and Scrap Reduction

    Internal

    RMA and Vendor Scrap management
    Issue Corrective Actions and track completion.
    Help cross functional teams discover root cause utilizing lean tools such as 5 whys and/or fishbone diagrams
    Assist cross functional teams in implementing corrective action

    External

    Work with raw material suppliers to track root cause and corrective action measures
    Visit suppliers to discuss quality concerns

    Provide weekly summaries of plant performance

    Purchasing Department Support

    Perform quality system audits of potential suppliers
    Assist in the issuance of quarterly supplier scorecards

    Discuss finding with suppliers

    Support Shop Inspection Personal

    Metrology

    Provide guidance on proper measurement tool usage
    Assist with blueprint interpretation
    Assist with GD&T interpretation
    Support Calibration department administration
    Support CMM operators

    Lead team training events

    Write and revise procedures based on:

    Military Specifications
    Contractual requirements
    Best practices

    Quality Assurance
    Review certifications for accuracy
    Review Dimensional Inspection reports for accuracy

    Qualification & Skills:
    Strong written and verbal communication skills
    Computer knowledge and skills
    Must be detail oriented, organized, and flexible
    Work in a fast-paced environment
    Ability to follow procedures, work instructions & standard work
    Must be able to organize and prioritize work
    Ability to evaluate a situation and provide a prompt assessment
    Willingness to defend positions in the face of schedule pressures or other reasonable challenges
    Must be adaptable, flexible professional who embraces teamwork and can work independently

    Experience Requirements:
    Working knowledge of quality system requirements, such as MIL-I-45208, ISO 9001 and/or AS9100
    Experience with Microsoft Office suite of software (e.g., Word, Excel, etc.)
    Knowledge of government contracts a plus

    Education Requirements:
    Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and/or manufacturing related field from an accredited institution
