- Monitor current and changing safety and health regulations to ensure compliance with Federal and State safety and health regulations
- Develop, coordinate, and oversee training and awareness programs to maintain a safe, healthy and environmentally-conscious work environment
- Conduct safety training and education programs, and demonstrate the proper use of safety equipment
- Oversee and participate in weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly audits as they relate to environmental health and safety and all required certifications
- Create and build relationships with managers, supervisors, and employees
- Identify, reduce, and eliminate workplace hazards and conditions and behaviors to reduce injury and unsafe working environment
- Investigate and review injury and near miss incidents to determine root cause and to prevent re-occurrence
- Coordinate "Right-To-Know" Programs regarding hazardous chemicals and other substances
- Maintain required safety and health documents/files
- Travel to various work settings (office and production)
- Conduct formal and periodic review of safety programs, policies, and procedures
- Prepare reports and charts for risk assessment and analysis
- Develop strategic safety planning to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses
- Monitor and administrate workers compensation claims, report generation, and communication with employees, managers, insurance carriers, medical personnel and lawyers
- Develops and manages the early Return to Work program
- Develop and maintain hygiene programs such as noise surveys, personal exposure monitoring and ventilation surveys
- Manage and maintain OSHA 300 Logs and records
- Occasional overnight travel
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related science degree with extensive skill, knowledge and experience in OSHA regulations or equivalent experience
- At least 5 years related experience with a minimum 2 years' experience in manufacturing
- Expert knowledge of General Industry OSHA regulations and experience maintaining OSHA 300 Log Records
- Proven experience writing safety and health support programs and policies
- Must have experience analyzing types, frequency, and/or severity of accidents to help develop prevention programs
- Intermediate Computer knowledge of: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and HR Management System (HRMS)
- Ability to work on sensitive issues with discretion and a high level of commitment to confidentiality
- Interpersonal skills- ability to talk to people from all backgrounds and level of employment
- Experience in Quality Certifications- SedEx, ISO, expectations and responding
