    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Under limited supervision, the Site Safety Manager ensures safety and environmental programs and procedures are followed at a particular worksite.

    This job class requires knowledge of general and construction safety, health and environmental practices, policies and procedures with the ability to resolve routine to complex safety/health and environmental issues.

    Employees in this job class must have general knowledge of applicable site-specific operations as well as occupational safety, health and environmental regulations and hazardous materials.


    TYPICAL DUTIES:
    1. *Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment and work practices to ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental standards2. *Develop and provide training in safe work practices, ergonomics, health and environmental practices3. *Supervises employees; ensures a competent, motivated team through hiring, training, development, counseling and reviewing the performance of employees.4.

    *Maintain professional relationships with customers, assuring support is provided to PRIDE staff in accordance with contracts and resolving safety issues that may inhibit contract performance 5.

    *Create, evaluate and educate employees on Job Safety Analysis (JSA's); Must ensure JSA's are current and effectively identify potential hazards6.

    *Interact with employees and conduct employee safety, behavior and ergonomic observations and corrective actions to prevent injuries and illness7.

    *Evaluate and educate employees in the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), shelf stocking equipment and cleaning tool use 8.

    *Provide reports and advice to the Site Safety Director regarding accidents and employee injuries9.

    *Conduct investigations to determine root causes of violations, injuries and incidents to determine corrective action and prevent recurrence, to be reviewed by the Site Safety Director for accuracy 10.

    *Maintain safety program records and compile data for use in reports11. *Transport and accompany injured employee's to a medical facility for treatment 12. *Conduct, participate and attend regularly scheduled staff, leadership, committee and offsite meetings. Prepare agendas, roster and presentation materials for various meetings13.

    *Establish a leadership role by assisting department Managers and Supervisors to achieve their safety goals by providing direction and technical support.

    14. *Assist the Site Safety Director in conducting periodic reviews of the safety process. 15. *Conduct Personal Protective Equipment Inspections. 16. *Bring safety discrepancies to the attention of the Site Safety Director and follow up on actions. 17. *Assist in accident investigations. 18. *Participate in safety recognition activities. 19. *Conduct department inspections to ensure sufficient first aid supplies and equipment are available. 20. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Five or more years of recent safety, health and environmental experience in the applicable site specific operations;
    • Depending on the worksite, bi-lingual English and Spanish required;
    • OSHA 10, CPR/First Aid, forklift trainer and HAZWOPPER certifications desired;
    • Ability to interpret and implement applicable laws, regulations and policies;
    • Knowledge of the Workers' Compensation system;
    • Ability to read and understand Insurance Carrier Loss Run information;
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to make presentations and respond to inquiries by management, team, vendors and/or customers;
    • Human relation skills to build effective relationships with team and internal customers;
    • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software;
    • Knowledge of business English including vocabulary, spelling, and correct grammatical usage and punctuation;
    • Mathematical skills to include the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations;
    • Ability to establish priorities and solve a wide range of business problems;
    • Demonstrated customer service, common sense, problem solving and analytical skills
    • Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects at the same time.

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
    Bachelors in Environmental Science or related field

    A comparable combination of formal education and work experience will be considered.


    CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES REQUIRED:
    The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements:

    CPR/First Aid

    Customer Clearances

    OSHA 10 Certification

    Valid Driver's License


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:


    • Utilizing keyboard
    • Viewing computer screen
    • Bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting and reaching
    • May require climbing ladders and/or step stools
    • Standing and walking
    • Maneuvering in and around the worksite

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    Work is performed primarily in an office environment with limited privacy and exposure to noise from others conducting business. The remainder of work is performed on job sites in the field, driving to and from worksite.

    Employees may be exposed to hazardous equipment, toxic substances, noise from equipment, and depending on external weather conditions, wind, rain, cold, and heat.

    Employees may be required to work in excess of 8 hours in a day and/or 40 hours per week.
