    About the Role:

    In this role, you will be responsible for contributing to reports and writing news focused on the North American renewable fuels markets. You will report daily on market pricing and market fundamentals. You will also create alerts relevant to the biofuels industry. You will report to the Renewables Journalism Director.

    You Will:

  • Accumulate spot market price transactions and market intelligence for renewable fuels and related credit markets in the and Canada from industry participants via email, instant messaging and by phone
  • Verify the legitimacy of the transactions and adhere to OPIS pricing methodology to create weekly price assessments
  • Develop and maintain rapport with key contacts in the renewable fuels industry; liaise with industry stakeholders (producers, consumers, traders, brokers and other participants) to collect bids, offers, and spot deals
  • Maintain and expand internal renewable fuels source database
  • Write breaking news stories for real-time news service, as well as longer feature content focusing on biofuels industry trends and emerging issues
  • Contribute to social media content, blog postings, industry analysis
  • Represent OPIS at national & international industry events and client meetings

    • You Have:

  • At least two years' experience with energy markets or related field as a professional reporter or market analyst
  • Ability to translate technical materials into content that engages and instructs readers
  • Solid grasp of math fundamentals and spreadsheet formulas
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, economics, business, finance, English, or related discipline (preferred)
