The State Group is seeking a Mechanical Estimator based at our Welch and Rushe Division in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. This opportunity will provide immediate once-in-a-lifetime career learning and growth, as well as future promotional opportunities for Mechanical Estimators within The State Group. Welch and Rushe has been in operation for over 50 years as a full-service mechanical company specializing in comprehensive HVAC and plumbing construction services.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Mechanical Estimator will complete start to finish estimating Mechanical and Plumbing projects, including take-off and putting the final estimate/proposal together for submission to the customer. Project sizes range from $100,000 - $25,000,000.
Comply with safety requirements and actively promote a positive safety culture.
Review various streams of information including, but not limited to, previous customer projects, similar projects from other customers in the market, labor costs, and other costs specific to the project.
Request clarification on the tender where necessary.
Update costs as necessary based on new information and project scope changes.
Collect and analyze all project costs, including raw materials, labor, equipment, and tooling to ensure estimates are accurate.
Estimate costs for projects based on an analysis of project technical requirements.
Identify and quantify potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of potential costs.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN OUR TEAM

5+ years of experience as a construction estimator, primarily in the mechanical field.
Mechanical experience in construction management, architecture, engineering, or equivalent trade experience.
Ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of the organization, customers, contractors, and other business partners.
Experience using Excel, Word, QuoteSoft, and project management software.
Scheduling experience is a plus.
Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks effectively with a proven track record of success in a busy, deadline-oriented environment.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Must be able to pass a drug test and have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
