    The State Group is seeking a Mechanical Estimator based at our Welch and Rushe Division in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.This opportunity will provide immediate once-in-a-lifetime career learning and growth, as well as future promotional opportunities for Mechanical Estimators within The State Group. Welch and Rushe has been in operation for over 50 years as a full-service mechanical company specializing in comprehensive HVAC and plumbing construction services.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    • The Mechanical Estimator will complete start to finish estimating Mechanical and Plumbing projects, including take-off and putting the final estimate/proposal together for submission to the customer. Project sizes range from $100,000 - $25,000,000.
    • Comply with safety requirements and actively promote a positive safety culture.
    • Review various streams of information including, but not limited to, previous customer projects, similar projects from other customers in the market, labor costs, and other costs specific to the project.
    • Request clarification on the tender where necessary.
    • Update costs as necessary based on new information and project scope changes.
    • Collect and analyze all project costs, including raw materials, labor, equipment, and tooling to ensure estimates are accurate.
    • Estimate costs for projects based on an analysis of project technical requirements.
    • Identify and quantify potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of potential costs.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN OUR TEAM

    • 5+ years of experience as a construction estimator, primarily in the mechanical field.
    • Mechanical experience in construction management, architecture, engineering, or equivalent trade experience.
    • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of the organization, customers, contractors, and other business partners.
    • Experience using Excel, Word, QuoteSoft, and project management software.
    • Scheduling experience is a plus.
    • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks effectively with a proven track record of success in a busy, deadline-oriented environment.
    • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
    • Must be able to pass a drug test and have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
