    TITLE:
    Data Management Specialist


    POSITION OVERVIEW:


    The Data Management Specialist is responsible for maintaining precise and comprehensive information across student and administrative databases at Framingham Public Schools.

    This role entails collaborating with various schools and departments within the district to uphold data accuracy at all levels, including student, staff, and operational data.

    Moreover, the Specialist is tasked with ensuring data integrity and security, as well as offering insights on optimal data management practices.

    TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
    Associate's degree and 3-5 years of Information Technology experience, ideally within a school department. Alternatively, a comparable blend of education and practical experience will be deemed.

    Proficiency in handling database systems, particularly in data entry, extraction, and report generation using Aspen X2 and Excel is essential.

    Familiarity with MA state reporting systems such as SIMS and EPIMS is required.

    Proficiency in computer systems

    Exceptional interpersonal abilities
    Experience with Aspen X2 or equivalent integrated data management system
    Skilled in database administration and proficient in SQL queries

    Establish and maintain effective working relationships across departments
    Effective oral and written communication
    Independent and creative work ethic with minimal supervision
    Knowledge of information and database systems development, analysis, and monitoring
    Maintain a professional appearance and a safe work environment
    Adherence to deadlines.
    ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Uphold data integrity in accordance with district and state data standards by performing regular data verification tasks.
    Investigate and resolve errors in student and staff data across various district applications.
    Assist in setting up, executing, and enforcing district policies and procedures for data entry to enhance data accuracy.
    Develop instructional materials on data collection, upkeep, and reporting processes.
    Collaborate with District administrators, teachers, and staff to validate data and compile reports prior to submission.
    Customize and generate reports/queries using Aspen X2 as necessary.
    Oversee DESE Security Portal.
    Offer technical support for district data systems.

    Collaborate with school data teams to aid in their assessment procedures, analyze data, and contribute to the district's data warehousing and analytics efforts.

    Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Technology or Superintendent of Schools.
    Submit accurate EPIMS, SIMS, SCS, and SSDR reports to the DESE promptly.
    Other duties as assigned by the Director of Educational Technology.

    The employee is occasionally required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and close vision such as reading typewritten material. The work typically requires occasional in-district travel to attend meetings.

    The performance of this job will be evaluated as per the Framingham School Committee Policy,


    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    Covered under Framingham School Committee Contract. This is a non-bargaining position.
