    Type: Contract 60 + days (could extend)

    Pay: $20 hour

    Position Summary:

    The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for managing the billing and collection processes of medical services provided. This includes submitting claims to insurance companies, following up on unpaid claims, and ensuring accurate and timely billing to maximize revenue for the healthcare facility.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Claims Processing:
      • Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance companies electronically or by paper.
      • Ensure all claims are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
    2. Accounts Receivable Management:
      • Monitor and follow up on unpaid claims.
      • Identify and resolve billing issues and discrepancies.
      • Post insurance and patient payments accurately.
      • Manage denied claims by researching and correcting errors.
    3. Patient Billing:
      • Prepare and send patient statements.
      • Handle patient billing inquiries and resolve issues.
      • Set up and manage payment plans for patients as needed.
    4. Insurance Verification:
      • Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to services being rendered.
      • Obtain pre-authorizations and referrals when necessary.
    5. Compliance and Documentation:
      • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and insurance regulations and policies.
      • Keep accurate records of all billing activities.
      • Assist in audits and provide necessary documentation.
    6. Communication:
      • Liaise with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve billing issues.
      • Communicate effectively with the billing team and other departments.
    7. Reporting:
      • Generate and analyze billing reports to track and improve billing performance.
      • Provide regular updates to the Billing Manager on the status of accounts receivable.

    Qualifications:

    • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field preferred.
    • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or a related field
    • Certification: Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) preferred.
    • Skills:
      • Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
      • Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes.
      • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
      • Strong organizational and time management skills.
      • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
      • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

    Working Conditions:

    • Typical office environment within a healthcare facility.
    • May require extended periods of sitting and computer use.
    • Occasional overtime may be required to meet deadlines.
