- Oversee a team of Mechanical Design Engineers
- Organize and document best practices and standard processes
- Develop and implement new processes where required
- Collaborate with Lead Engineers to staff engineering design efforts and balance workloads
- Provide technical direction and mentoring to employees on the team
- Assist in building a world-class robotic design team
- Work together with other departments (Electrical, Systems, Software, Production) to develop state-of-the-art robotic systems
- Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of engineering management experience
- 10+ years of experience in development of robotic systems, or similar (automotive, aerospace, etc.)
- Mastery of engineering fundamentals / first principles
- Strong proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)
- Great team player able to perform within a dynamic start-up environment
- Experience designing for multiple manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, 3D printing, Sheet Metal, Injection Molding, etc.
- Experience with GD&T for machined components, tolerance stack up analysis, and DFM/A Analysis
- Experience with conducting finite element analysis and reporting results
- Experience with revision control systems and design revision processes
- Experience with failure analysis/root cause analysis
- MaAsters in Electrical Engineering
- Strong understanding of kinematics, structural design, and electromechanical actuation
- Experience standing up design processes and procedures in a fast-paced environment
