    Description of Work

    This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP).     Note: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position in order to work in a temporary position. All temporaries are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.

    Individuals hired in a temporary State job must be fully qualified for the job. OSHR supports the Governor's Job Ready initiative and seeks to expand a temporary skill set to enhance their qualifications for State government and private sector jobs. Exposure to an agency's culture, process, procedures, and potential learning opportunities can provide valuable experience to those who may seek permanent employment with the state.

    This temporary position is located in Raleigh - Wake County.

    Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $20.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

    This temporary position will be assigned to Boards and Commissions. This position is located at 430 North Salisbury St, Raleigh, NC

    The purpose of the Operations Support Specialist is to provide tier 1 services to the agency This involves reviewing and responding to inquiries and public feedback while escalating complex inquiries and concerns to the respective agency division Tasks include receiving incoming documentation, emails, phone calls, and walk-in traffic while providing the necessary direction and/or troubleshooting service
    • Voter Registration o Open and date stamp voter registration forms o Sort forms by county o Scan forms into county database o Prepare forms for mailing to respective county o Assist in filing voter registration form orders for county boards of election and voter registration drives o Prepare voter cancellation lists for county distribution in support of list maintenance processes
    • Phone calls o Receive phone calls from the public o Provide tier 1 responses for topics such as voter registration, precinct locations and hours of operation, absentee ballot procedures, and campaign finance o Escalate tier 2 or tier 3 questions to the appropriate division based on provided guidelines
    • E-mails o Monitor e-mail inboxes including Admin, Absentee, Voter ID, and General Elections o Provide tier 1 responses for topics such as voter registration, precinct locations and hours of operation, absentee ballot procedures, and campaign finance o Escalate tier 2 or tier 3 questions appropriate division based on provided guidelines
    • Ticket routing o Route tickets in a help desk environment to the appropriate division based on provided guidelines
    • Other duties as assigned.

    • Ability to clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups.
    • Ability to present ideas clearly and effectively in written form; ability to adjust language or terminology to meet the needs of the audience; ability to use correct grammar, organization, and structure.
    Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

    High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
