What you'll be challenged to do:

TranSystems Ebensburg, Pennsylvania office has an immediate opening for an Entry Level Airport/Civil. This entry level position includes airport/civil design, rehabilitation, CAD design, and inspection duties along with the preparation of design calculations, construction documents, specifications, and estimates for a variety of projects including airport infrastructure, site development, storm water management and utilities design and construction projects. In addition, duties may include construction inspection services. Day to day assignments and technical guidance will be provided by current staff Project Managers. This position will also involve coordination with in-house engineering and architects, outside consultants, utility companies, clients, Contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and personnel in the Ebensburg office and other TranSystems offices. Assignments will involve travel within the continental United States and could, at times, require travel outside of the United States.

General Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Assists others in analyzing information and data to perform inspection/design tasks.
• May be asked to participate in non-design engineering activities such as construction inspection and materials testing, surveying, CADD production, and field data collection.
• Receives instructions from Project Manager or Senior Project Engineers as to the general results expected.
• Responsible for accuracy of engineering design, reports, and plans, quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and efficient conformance to budgets, schedules, and company standards.
• Research design options and document findings for Senior Project Engineer.
• Research project specific design, regulation and code requirements.
• Keeps Senior Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project schedule or scope or additional services.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.
• Assist or participate in preparation of business proposals.
• Be willing to travel within the continental United States with the occasional need to travel outside of the US.

What you bring to our firm:

• Bachelors degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in highways, general civil or construction management from an ABET-accredited university or college
• Individuals should have experience or a basic knowledge in reading plans, shop drawings, and evaluating contractor compliance with construction plans and specifications.
• Team oriented engineer with strong communication skills.

• Experience with Microsoft Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D and other AutoCAD-related software.
• Able and willing to travel within the continental United States with potential for travel outside of the US
• Physically capable of performing field work including communicating on Airports and working in adverse weather conditions, etc.
• Civil Engineer-in-Training/Fundamentals of Engineering Certification or capability to obtain this certification within 12 months of hire.
• Valid Drivers License

What wed prefer for you to bring to our firm:

• The preferred candidate will have a highway or general civil engineering background, knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and some experience with Airport, highway or civil engineering design drawings, specifications and cost estimates.
• No relocation assistance - Local candidates preferred.
• PennDOT Highway or General Civil consulting and/or construction services experience and/or experience with Aviation or highway engineering/inspection in Pennsylvania is a plus.
• Construction Administration Duties (Shop Drawings, RFI's, Payment Requests, Etc.).
• Construction Inspection Experience Preferred and experience with NEWFORMA a plus.
• Strong work ethic and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.
• Strong technical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to execute technical work and multidisciplinary projects.
• Intimate experience with Microsoft Excel including basic programming ability.
• Completion of the Engineering-in-Training exam is strongly encouraged.
