Advancement Manager - Denver, United States - Colorado Academy

    Default job background
    Description
    About the Organization

Horizons Colorado at Colorado Academy (HCCA) is a community-centered education program supporting students from the Denver area. Horizons builds long-term partnerships with students, families, communities, and schools to create experiences outside of school that inspire the joy of learning. The main component of Horizons is a six-week summer program located on the campus of Colorado Academy, where students participate in academic, cultural, and recreational enrichment activities, including teaching all students how to swim. The six-week program is supplemented by a growing school-year program, where students participate in after school tutoring, community service, and cultural and celebratory events. HCCA operates a proven model and is part of an affiliated network with over 70 Horizons sites serving students across the country.

Our Commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging

HCCA strives to create an inclusive, affirming, and welcoming environment that allows all team members to thrive.

Because of Horizons National's Network-wide commitment to EDIB, the ideal candidate for this role must be comfortable engaging in discussions, be self-reflective, and be willing to challenge themselves and others to learn and grow continuously.

    About the Position

HCCA is seeking an enthusiastic, professional self-starter to serve in the role of Advancement Manager. Working closely with the Colorado Academy Advancement team and HCCA Site Director, this role will provide coordination and support of key tasks with the goals of increasing and diversifying our donor base and financial sustainability. The ideal candidate has experience in fundraising, graphic design, social media, and working with CRM donor databases. The position will provide a broad range of responsibilities and professional development and is a great view into the needs, opportunities, and operations of a nonprofit.

Direct Supervisors: Colorado Academy's (CA) Assistant Head of School and the Director of Advancement.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Responsible for raising $800,000 each year in support of HCCA and in collaboration with the HCCA board.
    • Build and manage effective donor management systems, including documentation of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship efforts, in Raiser's Edge CRM database.
    • Oversee special donor events, including our Horizons Giving Day initiative, in partnership with Horizons volunteers.
    • Collaborate with the Colorado Academy's Advancement team on prospect and donor strategies to maximize engagement and to ensure fundraising best practices are utilized for effective donor cultivation and stewardship.
    • Ensure accurate reporting and complete timely acknowledgment of all gifts.
    • Identify, cultivate, and acquire corporate partnerships.
    • Develop and track grant proposals and reports for all foundations, corporations and government entities.
    • Develop key marketing initiatives (events, brochure development, videos, press releases).
    • Develop a marketing toolkit with tailored materials for prospective donors, host schools, board members and "high impact" champions.
    • Manage social media presence and content, and coordinate with CA's Communications team.
    • Develop detailed partnership reports for our lead partners that communicate key objectives, programming, results, and impact of the partnership.
    • Support the Site Director during peak summer program preparation.
    • Collaborate with Colorado Academy's Communications and Marketing team to ensure effective communication strategies that follow CA's brand standards.
    • Explore opportunities to heighten awareness of Horizons in the broader Denver community through strategic partnerships. Establish and enhance relationships with important players in the greater Denver area.
    • Attend CA's Advancement team and major donor strategy meetings weekly to collaborate on prospect and donor engagement.
    Requirements

    Skills and Qualifications
    • Demonstrated fundraising ability and experience in securing four-figure gifts and above.
    • Event management and implementation experience with both small and large engagement opportunities.
    • Demonstrated experience and skill working with CRM databases (Raiser's Edge a plus).
    • High-level oral and written communication skills needed.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, good judgment, and a sense of humor.
    • Reliable and flexible, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with organization-wide constituents.
    • Demonstrated excellence in time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
    • Ability to learn from feedback, handle multiple projects simultaneously, work independently and cooperatively within a team environment, and produce quality results on schedule.
    • Experience with content creation for social media that effectively and respectfully tells a story.
    • Experience and comfort with a design platform such as Canva, Photoshop, PhotoDirector, etc. (or willingness to learn and comfort with new technology).
    • Passionate about Horizons mission and vision.
    • Demonstrated ability and comfort with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
    • Demonstrated commitment to understanding how societal systems impact our families and the communities with which we work; commitment to continual personal growth in understanding individual biases and role within these systems in support of Horizons National's Network-wide commitment to EDIB.
    • Trust, accountability, discretion, honesty, and teamwork.
    • Proficiency with Spanish is preferred.
The pay range for the position is $65,000-$75,000. Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.

Any discrepancies that may exist do not relate to sex. The Academy offers an excellent compensation package, wide-ranging opportunities for professional development, and an environment notable for its dedicated teaching professionals and supportive administrators. Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance benefit programs are available, as is a 403(b) retirement plan. Eligibility for all benefit programs is defined by the applicable plan document.
