- Relieve Head Nurse and perform Head Nurse functional job description.
- Otherwise: responsible for CCII, Admission Nursery and Well Baby Nursery.
- Assign staff in the above areas, assign meal breaks and relief.
- Do patient classification sheets for above areas.
- Make daily rounds with neonatologist for above areas.
- Assist in orientation of new employees.
- Ensure that equipment is functioning properly and clean.
- Insure that supplies are adequate.
- Provide direct patient care when needed.
- Educate and counsel mothers about infant care.
- Ensure that infant for rooming in are transported safely to mothers.
- Identify potential problems and take appropriate action.
- Maintain area in clean and tidy fashion.
- Assist with Quality Assurance audits.
- Keep head nurse informed of unit activity.

Job Description
SUMMARY OF DUITES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State; and
2. Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA); and
