    About the Department

    The University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCCCC) is an integral component of the Biological Sciences Division (BSD). The BSD is the largest of four Divisions of the University and includes the Pritzker School of Medicine. UCCCC administers four established scientific programs, and the NCIsponsored Cancer Center Support Grant provides funding for ten Shared Resources. The Comprehensive Cancer Center is comprised of over 190 faculty members from twenty departments with members currently being awarded over $47 million in total direct costs in peerreviewed cancer research grants, and $28 million in nonpeer reviewed grants and contracts.

    The activities of the Center are broad and varied, including research, training and education, communications, fundraising, marketing, clinical trials management and community outreach.


    UCCCC has one of the largest cancer clinical trials programs in the country and in the Chicago area with nearly 500 adult and pediatric therapeutic trials actively accruing patients.

    Many of these studies are

    investigatorinitiated,

    including Phase I or I/II trials, demonstrating UCCCC commitment to translate basic research findings to the clinic through proofofprinciple and early phase studies. UCCCC opens over 250 new trials each year and accrues approximately 900 participants to therapeutic trials each year.
    Job Summary

    The Program Manager/Analyst supports the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center in data gathering, analysis, developing procedures or reports to provide evidence of the effectiveness of departmental

    initiatives/programs.


    Responsibilities include collecting, managing and analyzing data to assist with understanding UCCC's impact efforts to improve priority health needs in the catchment area, assisting UCCCC in planning for and evaluating strategies to address and manage priority community health needs and ongoing reporting of outcomes of programs.

    Responsibilities also include evaluating UCCCC publications, grants, and trends to evaluate success of programmatic activities.

    Responsibilities will involve data gathering, analysis, developing procedures or reports, coordinating and facilitating meetings, organizing records or other operational materials, etc.

    Responsibilities
    Possesses a working knowledge of IT systems used in health care and academic research. Strong analytical and conceptual skills.


    Utilizes word processing, spreadsheets, database management programs, statistical analysis software (e.g., SAS, Stata, SPSS, R) and presentation software is preferred.

    Experience in geospatial data mapping, data visualization and presentation is preferred.


    Requires experience analyzing data, knowledge of the importance of data for management problems, and the ability to provide analysis (specific data) to answer questions.

    Experience in using and analyzing data from local, state, and national public health databases is preferred.


    Keeps track of the progress reports timeline for varied UCCCC awards: when to send the requests, collecting, keeping track of who submitted /is overdue, archiving.


    Collects, tracks, organizes, and analyzes incoming data e.g., survey(s); e.g., grant experience survey; organizing PIs by research expertise for standing committee vs ad hoc membership.

    Uses moderate/solid understanding and experience to administer the delivery of services to program participants and/or beneficiaries.

    Sets and communicates program priorities and performance standards and assesses operations using these criteria. Plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate.

    Has moderate/high levels of interactions with faculty, researchers and staff for committee work or information.

    Performs other related work as needed.

    Minimum Qualifications


    Education:
    Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
    Work

    Experience:
    Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 25 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
    Certifications:Preferred Qualifications

    Education:


    Master's or PhD degree in public health, health care administration, business, public policy or economics with preparation in finance, epidemiology, and statistics.


    Experience:
    Four years of experience in a related field.

    Background in data analysis, epidemiology, and statistics.

    Past experience working with researcher, clinicians, community and senior leaders is.

    Preferred Competencies
    Excellent written and oral communication skills.


    The ability to work independently identifying best approaches to problems, questions and determine when to seek outside or more senior advice.
