    POSITION DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

    The Business Process Engineer position at the City of Tucson's Information Technology (IT) Department supports the organization in its mission to incorporate Lean thinking and process design into Business and IT Department operations.

    This position is accountable for designing, enacting, and driving change management and adoption of operational improvements.
    Work is performed under the supervision of the Information Technology Administrator. This position does not supervise.


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    *Position Specific SummaryThe Business Process Engineer serves to support the organization in its mission to incorporate Lean thinking and process design into Business and or ITD operations.

    This classification is typically used in one of two manners:
    as a business process engineer accountable for designing, enacting, and driving change management and adoption of operational improvements.
    Duties and ResponsibilitiesProcess Improvement Planning (40%)
    • EssentialDefines and analyzes the current state of the process, the goals and intended outcomes of the process, and stakeholders and steps involved.
    Identifies areas where the process can be refactored to be more efficient, effective, or compliant. Identify root cause or other effects to be addressed. Change Measurement and Improvement (25%)
    • EssentialCollects data to track performance of the process before and after changes are implemented to clearly measure and document the impact of the change.
    Reviews and studies the implementation of new processes, trains impacted parties, and ensures accountable handoff for identifying new improvement opportunities and making ongoing changes to the processes. Process Improvement Implementation (20%)
    • EssentialWorks with leaders and business units to develop new or updated procedures.
    Gains buy-in on recommended changes to processes.

    Implements changes to business processes to achieve desired results, coinciding with the agreed upon plan with business units and stakeholders.

    Stays updated on IT trends, emerging technologies, and process improvement methodologies relevant to the supported department. Familiarizes and learns new programs or functions adopted by the City to adapt to changing landscapes rapidly.
    Training (10%)
    • EssentialOrganizes workshops and meetings to collect input, train the methodology, build consensus, and drive process change to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
    Documents activities around improvement efforts to measure engineer's workload and success of the program. Trains employees and drive changes to technology, people, culture, and flow of information. Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
    • Non-EssentialPerforms all other duties and tasks as assigned.
    Completes special assignments including, but not limited to organizing events, executing department wide communication, consulting one on one with departments/divisions as needed, etc. * All duties, responsibilities, and percentage of time listed are subject to change.


    MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


    Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Public Administration (MPA), Master of Information Systems (MIS) or related field of study with significant experience in IT projects and relationship building.

    Business Relationship Manager Professional (BRMP) certification Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations certification. Experience working in the assigned area for business relationship assignment(s). Experience working in a government or public sector environment is highly desirable. Experience working with strategists and/or architects in developing strategic plans, roadmaps & success measures.

    Minimum Hiring Salary:
    $32.15Dependent upon experience, qualifications, and successful completion of any applicable job training


    Full Hourly Range:
    $ USD    In accordance with pay transparency, the salary reflected in this posting is the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Salary placement is typically between the minimum and mid-point of the salary range.
