    In this position, you will establish and maintain a quality culture in ABB's Electrification Smart Power (ELSP) division, controlling quality with systems, tools and teams to exceed customer expectations while ensuring sustainable operations.

    You will deploy and lead the quality strategy for a local organizational unit, including quality culture, systems, tools, and competent teams, with the aim to achieve and exceed customer expectations while ensuring sustainable operations.

    In this role, you will also drive the local quality system through the right mix of prevention, continuous improvement, robust root cause analysis, quick response, and sustainable solutions to problems.

    Your responsibilities

    • Deploys and leads strategy and objectives for quality management in line with the quality management system, quality policy, and local strategy
    • Ensures appropriate internal and external communication relevant to quality management system
    • Implements short, medium and long term strategy, activities, and plans to develop the quality management system, based on identified risks and opportunities, in collaboration and agreement with the local management team
    • Establishes a closed-loop quality cycle from product development to customer experience feedback to ensure customer requirements and expectations are met
    • Executes an effective audit program to assess compliance with the defined system
    • Uses quality data analytics from the organization to identify risks, failures, and non-conformances
    • Works within ABB local organizational units/functions to drive the vision for zero defects in products and avoid problems when delivering solutions or services to customers
    • Ensures customer-focused quality management, achieving high effectiveness in terms of customer satisfaction and efficiency in cost management, including processes and tools to ensure flawless and repeatable process execution, identifying gaps, and exploring opportunities for improvement
    • Partners with local functions to ensure voice-of-the-customer is represented at the local unit, professional quality management concepts are used to ensure the best possible product and process design quality, and that risks, problems, and solutions are evaluated from a customer/stakeholder point of view
    • Drives resolution of customer cases to completion, following robust root cause analysis and implementing preventive and corrective actions
    • Ensures quality-related systems and tools are effective in meeting customer and shareholder expectations
    • Ensures benchmarking within the industry, inside and outside ABB, to continuously challenge the status quo and further develop the organizational self-perception
    • Drives initiatives to improve on agreed aspects of quality in collaboration with local units and across multiple units or functions as applicable
    • Ensures effective and efficient review of quality management system by local leadership to sustain its continuing suitability, adequacy, effectiveness, and alignment with the strategic direction of the organization and to identify opportunities for improvement
    Your background

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field with minimum 10 years of experience in Quality Management, Product Support, Engineering, or Manufacturing
    • Specific experience and knowledge in UPS industry strongly preferred
    • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability lead, coach, and develop teams
    • Knowledge in the areas of Engineering, Service, Manufacturing, Supply Management, or Quality
    • Knowledge of ISO-9001 and CMMI quality standards
    • Knowledge of basic quality tools and techniques such as APQP, Core Quality Tools, Statistical Process Control methods and Process Capability Index (CPK)
    • Experience using and/or implementing lean manufacturing principles and using Lean Sigma/Six Sigma methodology to improve quality
    • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills and experience conducting root cause analysis. FMEA analyses and 8D Problem Solving experience is preferred
    • Demonstration of good verbal and written communication skills with the flexibility and ability to work with all areas and levels within the Company
    • Experience in quality management, operations, or similar shop-floor functional areas
    • Certification's through American Society for Quality (ASQ) preferred
    • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
