    Description


    The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank offers a diverse workplace with professionals who work together to fulfill our mission in the fight to end hunger.

    The Events Specialist will work in a fast-paced, dynamic department, leading efforts and the implementation of Foodbank events.

    Primary responsibilities include planning, organizing and managing all major events; serving as the internal event planning expert to support a variety of Foodbank events; detailed analysis and tracking of all major events.

    A high degree of commitment, availability, flexibility, dependability and attention to detail are essential for success in this position.

    Salary range is $40,000-45,000/annually.

    Job Responsibilities:


    Lead the planning, organizing and management of all major Foodbank events including, but not limited to, the Harvest for Hunger Campaign Kick-off and Celebration, and Selfless Elf.

    Provide support to numerous additional Foodbank events lead by other staff members or departments.
    Serve on internal staff planning committees (i.e., Harvest for Hunger).
    Act as a Foodbank representative to the community and work collaboratively with other Foodbank employees.
    Develop and manage vendor relationships for all necessary event needs (i.e., venues, food, music, linen & table rentals, etc.)
    In partnership with leadership, secure event co-chairs.

    In connection with the volunteer team, oversee recruitment of internal and external event volunteers, lead event planning committee meetings and identify meaningful engagement opportunities for members to leverage their talents, relationships, and community connections in an effort to support the event.

    Set up and manage ticketing and registration systems for Foodbank events.

    Collaborate with the marketing/communications department to create event communications to communicate with event attendees, donors and the community at large to carry out marketing strategies and objectives.

    Collaborate with the fund development department to secure event sponsors and cultivate donor relationships including major donors and prospects.
    Collaborate with the finance department to secure event insurance, alcohol permits and vendor contracts.
    Develop and oversee project timelines and event budgets to evaluate the overall ROI of each event.
    Lead onsite logistical support for events.
    Coordinate production of event materials (i.e., name badges, signage, handouts, gifts, etc.)
    Assemble data and prepare reports for all events including a post-event evaluation process.
    Use Raiser's Edge CRM software as a tool to document all communications and track and maintain relationship cultivation.
    Manage and organize inventory of all event-related materials and supplies.
    Perform other duties, as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:


    Bachelor's degree in related field, preferably marketing, public relations or hospitality; three years or more of experience in event planning with direct experience managing vendor relationships preferred.

    Possess a love for event management, provide outstanding customer service, be an enthusiastic professional, and be able to build relationships with internal and external constituents.

    Ability to multi-task with several complex and demanding concurrent projects.

    Must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision, and be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends around event time.

    Strong project management, verbal and written communication, judgment and decision-making skills.
    Superior organization skills and attention to detail.
    Available during off-hours for communications of all kinds.
    Ability to work well with ever-changing priorities and situations.

    Must be an independent and motivated team player with the ability to work with people at all levels both internally and externally.

    Proficient using Microsoft Office suite required; experience using Raiser's Edge CRM software preferred.
    Available to work evening and weekend hours around event time.

    Must be able to follow all American Institute of Baking, Feeding America, Food and Drug Administration, United States Department of Agriculture, Occupational Safety Hazard Administration, and Foodbank (standard operating procedures and employee handbook) safety regulations.
