Job Description and Duties
Under the guidance of the Health Program Manager II, Chief, Community and Statewide Interventions Section, the Health Program Manager I serves as the Chief of the Statewide Interventions Unit. This role includes overseeing a team of Health Program Specialists, providing supervision, guidance, and support to Local Health Departments. Responsibilities involve managing technical assistance, resource development, program materials, evaluation tools, and assisting with the State Oral Health Plan. Additionally, the position entails supervision of competitive grants and approval of funding proposals, service contracts, agreements, reports, and progress reports. Monitoring program activities to ensure compliance with statutes and policies, as well as evaluating program performance are key responsibilities. The Health Program Manager I also supervises federal special projects and other statewide interventions, collaborates with various committees, workgroups, and agencies on all levels, and provides necessary guidance and support.
HPM I Pre-Appointment Requirements: Before being appointed, candidates must obtain list eligibility by successfully completing the Health Program Manager I exam.
Eligibility and Telework: Candidates eligible for telework must be California residents as per Government Code 14200. Primary residency in California is mandatory for the selected candidate to maintain employment.
