    Energy Environmental Group has an immediate opening for an Environmental/Land Liaison Specialist based in Salt Lake City, Utah. The successful candidate will serve as the primary environmental compliance and land liaison specialist on a high-voltage transmission line construction project in Salt Lake City, Utah. This is an on-site position and will last from approximately June 2024 through December 2024.

    Job Description:

    • Demonstrates basic understanding of applicable environmental laws, environmental best management practices, field construction practices, employee environmental training, and working with local, state and federal land management agencies.
    • Works with construction management and government agencies to ensure comprehensive environmental compliance throughout all phases of transmission line construction.
    • Complete pre-construction surveying within the project right-of-way and surrounding areas.
    • Monitors the project area for species of concern and implements appropriate flagging and signage to comply with environmental concerns and mitigation.
    • Inspects, evaluates, and amends project best management practices (BMP's) as needed in accordance with the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan and contractual requirements.
    • Develops Project plans to ensure environmental and agency compliance.
    • Prepares and oversees biological management plans, obtain project specific permits, and manages all field biological activities including preconstruction, construction, and post construction monitoring and surveys.
    • Conducts project environmental training for all project employees, subcontractors and visitors to project site and develops Site Specification Environmental Plans for project work sites.
    • Participates in daily and weekly pre-construction look-ahead meetings.
    • Prepares and maintain daily and weekly reports as specified in the project documents.
    • Performs site inspections to identify areas of potential risk related to permit requirements.
    • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state and local permit conditions.
    • Strictly adheres to Owner's environmental policies and procedures.
    • Coordinates with Owner's staff and governing agencies on a regular basis to track Project activities and ensure consistent communications Project wide.
    • Communicate with public agencies, utility companies, railroads, UDOT, businesses, and landowners.
    • Identify yourself as the point-of-contact for future questions and concerns.

    • Able to conduct research, assess potential impacts, and communicate (verbally and written) appropriate solutions/recommendations.
    • Comfortable working in both an office environment and in the field.
    • Strong interpersonal skills - interacting with clients, government agencies, sub-contractors, etc.
    • Strong computer skills and a significant understanding of Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, Google Earth, and others.
    • Competency using GPS, GIS, and mobile devices.
    • Detail-oriented team player and able to contribute to a positive work environment.

    Physical Demands:

    • Must be able to lift 40-50 lbs.
    • Must be able to traverse challenging terrain.
    • Capable of working in varying or adverse environmental conditions.
    • Able to withstand long hours in the field.

    Education and/or Work Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource, Geology, Biology, Chemistry, or related field of study.
    • Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
    • A record of prior employment documenting that the applicant is organized, motivated, dependable, and good at solving problems in a professional and timely manner.
    • Must be a U.S. citizen and have a valid driver's license.

    Preferred experience:

    • Hazwoper 40HR.
    • CISEC or CESSWI Stormwater Certification.
    • OSHA 30HR.
    • CPESC Certification.
    • Geographic Information System (GIS), ESRI Software, including ArcCollector/Field Maps.
    • Planning and field experience on construction projects.
    • Familiarity with electrical transmission and distribution line construction activities.
