    The following describes the various aspects of the designated job. Some or all of these aspects may be changed over time, with or without notice, at the sole discretion of the ACGME.

    Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States (US) on a full-time basis. The ACGME will not provide employment sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B Visa or other US employment authorization).

    JOB OVERVIEW

    The ACGME's goal is to provide meaningful, relevant, and challenging assignments that directly contribute to the organization's objectives and strategic priorities. Interns work on real-world, project- based assignments that allow them opportunities to showcase their contributions and growth.

    Under supervision, the Intern will assist the Department of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to participate in several scholarly writing projects. The primary focus will be on conducting literature reviews and preparing manuscripts on topics related to physician language proficiency and workforce diversity. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to important research initiatives aimed at promoting diversity and inclusion within graduate medical education. The selected candidate will work closely with experts in the field and gain valuable experience in scholarly writing and research methodology.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Review of literature and manuscript preparation for scholarly writing projects within the Department of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Anticipated focus areas include physician language proficiency and specialty-specific analyses of resident physician characteristics.
    • Apply foundational diversity, equity, and inclusion principles to hypothesis-driven GME research questions
    • Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure accuracy and relevance of research findings.
    • Assist with the preparation of related manuscripts and scholarly presentations (e.g., abstract proposals and PowerPoint presentations for meetings/conferences)
    • Complete special projects by clarifying the project objective, setting timetables and schedules, conducting research, developing and organizing information, and fulfilling obligations.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONSMinimum
    • A current medical student, resident, or fellow in good academic standing in the individual's school or program.
    • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
    • The ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues using judgment consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures.
    • Strong computer and typing skills, including expertise with the Microsoft Suite of software, as well as Zoom and Adobe Acrobat.
    • A strong attention to detail and expert follow-up skills.
    • Ability to compose and send clear, concise email messages, using proper formatting, grammar, and syntax.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    Preferred
    • Research experience, including qualitative analysis and/or knowledge syntheses.
    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL SETS, AND ABILITIES
    • Evidence of effective written and oral communication skills.
    • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of accuracy.
    • Strong editing skills, with excellent accuracy, for reviewing own and others' work.
    • Skilled in working under tight timelines and comfortable balancing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
    • Good judgment, common sense, and dependability.
    • A demonstrable flexible approach to assigned tasks.
    • Ability to comprehend and apply highly detailed standardized procedures in administration of ongoing projects.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

    • The intern must be able to work efficiently and effectively remotely.
