    Clinical Research Coordinator Description

    GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

    The Homelessness, Housing & Health Lab in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) has a 20-hour unique position for an organized, detail-oriented, conscientious candidate interested in research focusing on the health of vulnerable and underserved populations. The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) will assist with two lines of work: 1) a multiyear study designing and piloting a peer recovery support intervention for opioid use disorder treatment among people experiencing homelessness, and 2) observational research related to methamphetamine use among people experiencing homelessness. Both lines of work will involve a mix of patient-facing activities at Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program and non-patient-facing activities at MGH. The CRC will also be asked to assist with other administrative and research-oriented tasks within the lab and will be cross-trained to perform duties on other research projects and studies when needed. The CRC will be an integral part of the study team and will work under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), Dr. Danielle Fine, with additional supervision by the team's Clinical Research Program Manager.     PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The responsibilities of the CRC may include but are not limited to the following activities:

    ·Submitting applications, amendments, reports, and other documents to the Institutional Review Board under the supervision of the Principal Investigator.

    ·Organizing and participating in study-related meetings and study site visits.

    ·Designing and maintaining study databases.

    ·Screening, consenting, and enrolling study participants.

    ·Collecting, entering, and cleaning study data.

    ·Administering qualitative interviews and assisting in the analysis of qualitative data.

    ·Maintaining research-related files and regulatory materials.

    ·Assisting with the preparation of grant applications and reports to funding agencies.

    ·Assisting with the preparation of scientific abstracts, posters, PowerPoint presentations, and manuscripts.

    ·Conducting literature reviews.

    ·Providing general administrative support to the PI and other project members.

    ·Performing all other duties or special projects that are Division- or team-specific and appropriate to the level of training, at the discretion of the PI, Clinical Research Program Manager, and other Division leadership.

    SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

    Applicants must possess superior organizational, administrative, time management, and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with office staff as well as with vulnerable research participants. Enthusiasm for the topic area is essential. A minimum commitment of 1 year is required, but 2 or more years is strongly preferred.

    Additional skills, abilities, and competencies include:

  • Proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as internet applications) and the ability to learn new computer applications when needed.
  • Familiarity with other software such as Stata, SAS, and/or MS Access is desirable but not required.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to anticipate, manage, and troubleshoot challenges.
  • Ability to keep multiple tasks on track simultaneously.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new research and study-related skills.
  • Capacity to manage various aspects of data collection, data entry, and data management.
  • Intellectual independence and initiative.
  • Interest in public health and/or medicine, especially issues relating to vulnerable and underserved populations.
  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION:

    A Bachelor's degree is required. Prior coursework in health-related topics and/or research methods is preferred but not required.

    EXPERIENCE:

    Previous research experience is preferred but not required.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    The CRC will be provided with a workspace and a standard Partners laptop in an office setting. The position will require frequent travel to and from Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program.
