Description

The Clinical Nurse - Float reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The role of the professional clinical nurse is unique and essential to the care of the patient. The nurse demonstrates that unique and essential function through the framework for nursing practice.

With 1 or more years of experience as an RN, Northwestern Memorial Hospital's Float Pool has an opportunity for you to grow your professional nursing career.

Float pool Medical/Surgical/Oncology serves to fill the gaps in staffing across 25 different units. These units include medicine, surgery, transplant, orthopedics, oncology, cardiology, observation, neurology, multiple step-down units and more.

Every shift will look different, on a different floor with a different team to provide a wide array of opportunity for growth in many different specialties.

Float pool has its own leadership team to provide continual guidance and support.

Float Pool allows for nurses to advance their skill set by combining cutting-edge technology and critical thinking skills to provide evidence-based comprehensive nursing care to our highly complex patient population throughout the entire hospital.

Float pool offers an environment that supports teamwork and collaboration from all members of the interdisciplinary team.

In float pool, nurses have the opportunity to get involved through departmental quality committees and contribute to advancements in our evidence-based nursing care by participating in our LEAD (Lead, Excel and Develop) program.

Responsibilities:

• Develops an individualized age-specific culturally sensitive nursing plan of care for the patient that is based on the nursing process.

Qualifications


Required:

• Graduate of an NLN accredited school/college of nursing.
• Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or higher.
• Current State of Illinois, Registered Professional Nurse license.
• Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation recognition (healthcare provider level).
• Analytic ability (conceptual and quantitative).
• Oral, listening and written communication skills.
• Strong human relation skills to interact effectively and collaborate with others in difficult situations.
• Use of a keyboard to enter or retrieve data.

Preferred:

• Experience in specific clinical area.
• Nursing specialty certification, if eligible.
