ABOUT THIS POSITION:


The Parks and Recreation Department is one of the largest municipal park systems in the nation with more than 41,000 acres of desert parks and mountain preserves with 200 miles of trails, 29 pools, 8 golf courses, 187 flatland parks, 10 preserve areas, and 33 community centers.

Over a million Phoenix-area residents regularly enjoy the city's parks, playgrounds, walking paths, athletic fields and open green spaces.


The Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting for a Project Manager that will be responsible for managing, organizing, coordinating, and monitoring the functions of Parks and Recreation Department capital and maintenance projects.

The Project Manager will be responsible to direct all activities and personnel involved in the implementation and completion of projects and contracts including but not limited to design, scheduling, construction, budget, and construction compliance.

Additional responsibilities will include performing site visits and field inspections of projects, reviewing designs, drawings, payment requests, and project schedules meeting with community representatives to review proposed projects.

This position will report to the Parks and Recreation Parks Development Deputy Director.


IDEAL CANDIDATE:


  • Ability to compile financial analysis, conduct research, summarize surveys.
  • Ability to use research methods, data and statistical analysis, and benchmarking to develop business decisions.
  • Knowledge of engineering.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 36
  • Strong decisionmaking skills and effective at problem solving and negotiating resolutions.

SALARY:


Pay Range:
$69,492.80 to $131,040.00 annually.

Hiring Range:
$69,492.80 to $97,780.80 annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Four years of responsible experience in urban development, redevelopment, business assistance, capital improvement, design and/or construction projects at a level which required supervision or participation in the planning and programming processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, urban planning, architecture, engineering, construction management, economics, or a related field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • Experience supervising staff and managing consultants.
  • Experience managing Capital Improvement Program projects.
  • Experience in budget development and management.
  • Experience managing Capital Improvement Program budgets.
  • Experience in construction project and/or facility management.
