ABOUT THIS POSITION:

The Phoenix Convention Center and Venues is one of the premier convention facilities in the United States. It hosts a diverse range of conventions, trade shows, meetings, and entertainment events. We are committed to delivering the highest levels of customer service and guest experience in the industry.

Currently, there is one full-time vacancy at the Phoenix Convention Center for a Production Assistant.

A Production Assistant ensures the proper installation and operation of audio/visual and related technical systems used in support of convention, stage, and meeting activities at the Phoenix Convention Center and Venues.


Duties include:

  • The installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and oversight of various technical systems, such as theatrical lighting, sound, and rigging used in support of theatrical, convention, and meeting activities.
  • Providing direct consultation to clients on these technical systems.
  • Responsibility for oversight of contractors operating theatrical systems during events.
  • Responsible for providing staffing coverage and oversite during the various phases of live event activity within the convention center and theatrical venues.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:


  • Possesses production experience specializing in theatrical lighting and audio skills.
  • Possesses production experience specializing in theatrical rigging system operation.
  • Knowledge of entertainment industry standards and best practices with regard to safety, working at height, and entertainment control system networking.
  • Ability to problemsolve in a fastpaced live theater environment.

SALARY:


Pay Range:
$ $36.84 per hour.

Hiring Range:
$ $31.82 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Two years of experience in the installation and operation of sound systems, stage lighting, and related technical systems used in a large public assembly facility,
  • OR Associate's degree in theater arts or related field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
  • Moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds may be required.
  • Working irregular hours, shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings will be required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • Completed Bachelor's degree in a theatrical related field preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience providing event activity oversite in theatrical venues.
  • Experience with fly systems.
  • Experience working manual rigging systems or arena rigging.
  • Experience working with ETC lighting consoles.
  • Experience working with Yamaha audio consoles.
  • Four or more years of experience in the installation and operation of sound systems, stage lighting, and related technical systems used in a large public assembly facility and/or professional theatrical venue.
  • Experience working with troubleshooting in the following areas:
  • Operation of lighting systems.
  • Sound system operations.
  • Production lighting and/or audio network infrastructures.
  • Electrical components in a production theatrical environment.
  • Theatrical dimming systems.
  • Completed certfication in any of the following:
  • Entertainment Technical Certification Program (ETCP).
  • Certified Technology Specialist (CTS).
  • Dante
