- Monitors departmental employment policies and practices for compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity Program;
- Prepares the Affirmative Action Policy;
- Assists in coordinating major Affirmative Action Recruiting programs for Police and Fire positions;
- Researches and analyzes employment practices to define problem areas with regard to the utilization of minorities, the handicapped, and women in departmental services;
- Advises department heads concerning Equal Employment Opportunity laws and how they are applied to the employment process by providing orientation and distributing materials;
- Determines training needs for employees by conducting studies and evaluating results;
- Selects and/or trains instructors for training programs;
- Acts as liaison between public and private agencies and organizations concerning training activities for employees;
- Prepares detailed Federal Equal Employment Opportunity reports and maintains Equal Employment Opportunity records.
- Thorough knowledge of Federal, State and local laws and policies as they relate to Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Programs;
- EEO Investigation or FMLA & ADA certification, preferred;
- Thorough knowledge of modern training methods and procedures;
- Thorough knowledge of local government structure;
- Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret complex written material;
- Ability to instruct and train others;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing;
- Ability to prepare narrative and tabular reports, initiative, resourcefulness and integrity;
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
